RiCKS!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for giving us the recipe for those cookies and cream cupcakes...I am baking them right now, tried one and it is fantastic even without the frosting!!!  I tasted the batter and was concerned because it wasn't very good-but realized it shouldn't be so sweet with all the oreos.

Now to make the frosting, which i have never done before! :)

I love them!!  Perfect for my dad's birthday tomorrow!

Im known as "the cake ball lady" to my one friends group of friends, so I know I will be expected to really step it up this christmas with what I bring. I might try doing a spice cake type of one, and something else I still have yet to figure out - I might have to stray from boxed cake to really make it awesome.
  • How about carrot cake?  That would be such a different texture!  Orrr cheesecake?  I'm so glad God made cake balls.

Youre not going to get shipped to me when you die or something? I dont think I would like to get your dead body in the mail. I prefer money or food.
  • Nebb, last Christmas I made a crap ton of cakeballs. In case you need flavor inspiration, these were all done with cake mix:

Lemon with almond extract- Malibu Rum- white coating
Lemon - Raspberry Jam- white coating
Devils Food- Kahlua- dark coating with caramel drizzle
Devils Food- Peppermint Schnapps- dark coating with crushed peppermints
White Cake with Mandarin Extract and orange zest- Malibu rum- white coating

I prefer using liquor for the moistener instead of icing. Its way less fat and more tasty, to me anyway.

Im saving this for future reference. How much of the alcohol do you use?
  • Just until its wet enough to mush smoothly. I don't measure anything.

I used about 3/4 of a jar of raspberry preserves per lemon cake mix. When you roll them, they look like meatballs. They need to dry/chill in the fridge a bit longer than the others because if they are too wet, the water will make your coating seize, and/or they will sweat out later.
