So...yes! It's true. And not just on The knot. In real life as well, apparantly. I've hit the magical years where all friends and family are off the aisle or knocking each other up.
FI's best man, getting married a month before us -cute girl, just don't know her, and I guess we're supposed to be best friends?
Friend from work - DW who invited me to her bridal shower but not the wedding as she knew " I couldn't afford it..." Yeah, she'll get a nice present out of that one.
Best friend from back home. Haven't seen her in years as she's been in peace corps. Calls me the other day to tell me she's coming home in July (yea!) oh...and that's she's getting married Oct. 2 (2 days before me). Wow..."I didn't even know you were dating..."
And fabulous, beautiful friend/photographer who is also getting married (a week after we are and would still love absolutely love for us to make it)...
CHAOS!
So beyond the wedding planning are showers, showers, flights home for pre-wedding congrats..Flights to New York and Indiana for pre-wedding congrats,.etc. etc. and money, lots of money. And the added chaos of everyone around me seemingly doing a far more graceful job than I of handling the wedding planning process....
I should also add I just slipped a check into the mail the other day for my cousin who just graduated highschool and is attending OSU. AND upon receiving his money for his new computer, his parents called me to thank me for the money, but that the "computer fund" had been dissolved as he accidently knocked his girlfriend up! So he won't be attending college in the fall...
Call me whatever you like (I couldn't contain myself), I said under my breath, and thought very loudly - "I want my money back!"
