Poll: What did you splurge for on your registry?

I'm bored and sick of looking at these stupid excel spreadsheets so let's do a poll!

We splurged on towels of all the stupid things lol.  We registered for these amazingly wonderful lacoste towels that I'm really hoping we get.  Also, a Dyson but we only registered for it so we get the discount after the wedding lol

Re: Poll: What did you splurge for on your registry?

  • Pots and pans.  Knives.  Bedding/pillows.  A NICE vacuum (although I didn't splurge that much... ideally, I'd like a Dyson).  China.  Dishes.

We got our pots and pans already :) I can't wait to start using them.  I bought a Kenmore set when I moved into my own apartment three years ago - they are nice, but they are all non-stick.  Which is fine - but not all the time.  I'll probably box them up and leave them at my parent's place for one of my sisters to use in college.

  • Not done with the registry yet because we still have time but the kitchen aid mixer, new towels and a paninni press will all be on there.
  • We splurged on a KitchenAId mixer which we got from my MIL and use all the time and a Roomba, which we used our completion discount to buy after the wedding and I couldn't love it more.  No more vacuuming!

  • I want a Roomba... really, really bad.  Especially since Ben wants a dog after we get married.  But we've already gotten like, 150 bucks from guests - I know we'll have more than enough cash to get one, since we didn't register for it.

I kinda wanted to register for the Kitchenaid mixer, since most people do - but Ben talked me out of it.  I seriously would NEVER use it.  We registered for a hand held one instead.

  • We didn't register. We just wanted money. We used a lot of the cash during the HM, used the rest on bills and debt when we got home. It was perfect for us. I do want to upgrade on some kitchen things, but at the moment we don't have the space for the stuff I really want so it made more sense for us to wait.

Dude, register for the one that is BOTH!  The mixer part come off so it's a hand held and a stand mixer.  I'm an enabler.  ha ha ha

  • We really freakin' need dishes (place settings, serving bowls, platters, etc) because our cheap IKEA stuff is chipping and scratching and breaking entirely in the mere 3 years we've had it.  Bleh.  I will never use stoneware AGAIN!

So, it's the Apilco porcelain line from Williams-Sonoma.  Ahhh...can't wait.

I am so dying to get that KitchenAid mixer!  I don't know the last time I baked, but I've wanted one of those since I was a little girl.  Instead of planning my wedding, I planned the tasty treats I would make with my mixer.

FI and I are weird.  We're old enough to have nice pots/pans, dishes, etc and we've lived together for 2 years, but we really do need all of that stuff.  All of our plates are from the dollar store (FI bought a lot of them for me when I had a dinner party when we first started dating and I had like 4 plates) and none of our flatwear or glasswear matches.  Our pots and pans are from Target or IKEA and are totally falling apart.  I always fantasize about getting new stuff, but I'd rather spend money on other things.  So we'll probably keep everything off of our registry.

ETA: One of my friends got the Margaritaville frozen drink maker.  I soooo want one of those!

  • We didn't really splurge on much. No china or crystal, no stand mixer, no fancy sheets or towels. We really wanted good knives, but youre not supposed to buy those as a wedding gift so we just bought them ourselves on rue la la during one of the henckels boutiques. I guess the most splurge-y thing we registered for was a bedding set, but when it goes on sale at macys it's actually not that pricey!

  • For us, I think it was our china.  Never would have bought it otherwise.  Although, we only got 2 place settings and then used our wedding gift money to buy the rest, so I guess we sort of bought it!

Everything else was pretty reasonable stuff that we wanted.  My favorite items are kind of silly:  stainless steel kitchen trashcan (so much nicer looking than our old plastic one!), electric tea kettle (use this every day), some new water glasses (only $4 each at C&B).  Not that expensive, but really nice upgrades.

I kind of want a kitchen aid mixer, but it was too expensive, I knew no one would buy it.  And I'm just not sure I'd use it enough to justify it.  I did get an $80 food processor though!
  • The Kitchenaid mixer. I mean, we registered for expensive towels, but I didn't expect them (and didn't get them). Didn't get the mixer either, come to think of it. I really wanted my place settings (got 3 so far - we'll use GCs and cash to finish buying them) and the blender I registered for, which we got! Also, we registered for like 800 thread count sheets. Didn't get them, but we got the matching pillow cases and duvet cover, and we have enough in GCs to get the sheets now.

Yup, that stuff.  And whatever we didn't get, we plan on buying ourselves with the completion discount.

Though as an aside, we DID get a refurbished Dyson from woot.com yesterday for $279 - score!!
  • A convection toaster oven at Williams-Sonoma.  We have one already, but it's white and a bit too small.  I grew up having a toaster oven that would do pies and pizzas.  It makes so much more sense than having to fire up the big oven just to cook a pie or heat up a pizza.

And I want to add a roomba.  We seriously need one with three cats and white carpet.

We didn't get anything off the registry, but that's cause I didn't tell anyone about them really.  A few people asked, but we got cash by far as the most common gift.  I registered for my discount later, I'll buy everything myself.
  • I already have the Kitchen Aid mixer, I got it as an X-mas gift. So I think... the Dyson vacuum is our biggest... and a Keurig coffee maker.

  • We also registered for Wusthof knives, which if you add a $1 for every knife is not a bad omen. But I doubt we will get them.

  • Nice sheets and a down comforter. Also, a nice new suitcase.

And for those of you considering a Kitchenaid stand mixer, REGISTER FOR IT! I have one and LOOOOVE it. It makes so many different things! The attachments are awesome (registered for a couple of those). My FI gave it to me for Valentine's Day!

  • We registered for the Kitchenaid mixer (FI's splurge) and the Margaritaville blender(My splurge)... I know that I could get a blender for $40 but I love that one!!!!!
  • Kitchen-Aide!  And knives!  My mother made us choose a china pattern a few years ago so she and Dad could start buying pieces gradually--we ended up getting a service for 8 and the serving pieces over the course of 2 Christmases.  This all happened before we were even engaged (and we don't live together, either!)!

  • The Kitchen Aid Mixer was the big splurge. I did get it too but I have been talking about getting one for years so I kind of expected someone would get one for me. I love baking and every year my family expects cookies, pies and baked breads from me. Now I don't have to put so much arm muscle into baking.
Thankfully my mother is giving me her China and my Grandmothers China so I don't have to register for that. They are not the patterns I would pick but I don't have to ask for a sugar bowl that is over $100.00 and risk not getting something else I would want more.

Our families are not super rich and my FI's sister got married last year and asked for a ton of really expensive items and the whole family was dissappointed. I am not the kind of person to ask for really expensive items that I might never use.

  • The Keurig platinum  brewer(which my mom already bought for my shower....soo excited!) and the Calphalon contemporary knife set are the biggest splurges.  By the way, what is this about knives being a bad omen?  Does it have something to do with one spouse murdering the other with the knives?  Because that's just absurd and creepy...

  • Ours will have lots of china, a fabulous stand mixer, pots and pans, and maybe super-soft sheets.  I want to register at William-Sanoma, but I know that it's expensive and that not everyone will be able to afford things from there.

Can you register for a puppy?  I really want one of those.
