As promised, the massage info. I'll check in later if you have questions but I hate typing on my phone so forgive me if my answers are short. We really need to get our damn Internet fixed. I'm not a fan of Starbucks even if they do have free Wi-Fi.
Anyway. I'll try to explain this as best I can. It's so much easier to just show someone, you know?
Have your H hold your arm in one hand, palm up (it's easier to sit facing one another). To start, have him run his fingers from inside elbow to wrist 4 or 5 times, applying medium pressure. This helps "loosen up" the area.
Once that's done, he can massage the entire forearm. This is done by pressing his thumbs on either side of the center of your forearm (imagine a line drawn down the middle of your arm, and massaging along that line). Massage in circular motions, pressing as gently or as hard as you prefer (this might hurt a bit). My H sometimes goes all the way down in a fluid motion, then goes back and works on more inflammed areas.
The massage goes from your inner elbow all the way down to your fingertips. Once he gets to your hands, he can massage all areas - middle of the palm, around the thumb, finger joints, etc - whatever feels best. H usually goes in a circle around the palm, then the center, and massages in between the finger joints (again, moving thumbs in a circular motion).
After that's done (it may take awhile for both arms), H always does the other side of my arm (back of the hand facing up). My worst area for pain is right below the inside elbow on my forearm and the outside elbow on the other, so he spends a lot of time there. He basically has to dig his thumbs in and grind against the tendons to break up the inflammation (I know that sounds awful, but it's what my massage therapist instructed him to do). It's freaky because sometimes it makes my fingers bounce around uncontrollably.
Depending on how hard the massage is, your hands might be tingly and hard to use for a little bit.
I hope that helps! it's best to do it regularly, but I'm not always up for it since it can hurt. I have these tiny nodules in my forearms and wrists that make the massage really painful, but I need to suck it up and just do it to get rid of them.
