Anniversaries

So, 7 years ago on this date I went on my first date with FI. We saw "Elf" and then went for coffee at Dunkin Donuts. We were supposed to do something over the weekend, but never had the time and now we're both too tired to bother going out to dinner or anything. It sucks getting old.   : )

What did you all do on your first dates with your H/FI/SO?

And how do you currently celebrate your Anniversary?

Re: Anniversaries

  • I think my first 'date' was beer and a college dorm room.

But our real first date was to Cheesecake factory. Amazing.

We always try to get to Martha's Vineyard on any and all special occasions.
  • First "date" was just a movie and whatnot, but we were already doing it at that point, lol. The whole internet for 6 months kind of ruined the actual "dating" experience. We count our anniversary as the first day we met in person (January 11, 2009), but we weren't able to spend our first one together because I was denied entry two weeks before >.<

Oh wow, our first date? I don't think we ever had an official first date, but the first time we hung out with just the two of us there was at the local bar near our old job.

ETA: We don't celebrate anniversaries, sorry. :)

  • FI and I went out to dinner on Thursday to a place out on the Marina. It was great. Funny thing is he went to pay and his debt car wasn't working. The waiter came to the table and told him and I could tell he was embarrassed. He end up paying with his credit card and had to order a new debt card that night.

Our dating anniversary is Halloween. We normally don't do anything besides basic Halloween celebrating and celebrate the following weekend. However he is taking me somewhere on Wednesday to celebrate. He won't tell me where and has actually given me riddles to try to figure it out.
  • That's sweet! We don't celebrate our first date anniversary because you end up having too many damn anniversaries. First date, date you became a couple, date you became engaged, etc, etc. That's why we got married. One date and DONE!

  • We celebrate the day we met, our Sexaversary, the day he officially asked me out, and the day he proposed. We celebrate a lot.

Our first date was September 4th, 2007. We went to a really nice dinner, and he slept over that night.. It was amazing.

Our first date was to the fanciest place in town and he brought flowers.

He proposed on Feb13th at the same restaurant (which is the anniversary of the day we met.)

As for our wedding anniversary, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.  :)  it's a month from this Friday.

Our first date was dinner and playing pool.  We met on NYE so our celebration is whatever party or thing we do that night.  We'll say happy anniversary and kiss at midnight.  I think we did presents in the first year or two of dating, but we don't anymore.

ETA: I want to celebrate our Sexaversary!!   Love that name.  I don't remember the date though.  Doh!  Does anyone else?

We do. Lol. We don't TECHNICALLY celebrate. We just, well, ya know.

    As I said, we're weird.
  • Technically our first date consisted of me picking him up at the airport at 2am, then having sex until 6am, then going to work 6:30am until 5pm, coming home and having more sex.

The night I consider our first date/outting together we went to a bar and I got completely wasted. Long story though.

I have no idea. I'm pretty sure I didn't know what the date was afterwards either.  Wink, wink.
  • We normally celebrate just our dating anniversary. We got engaged after dating for 6months. On our year engagement anniversary we went hiking around were we got engaged. He proposed at the Griffith Observatory.
  • Ironically our first "date" was 2 months after we started seeing each other. We went to red lobster and a movie. It was great it was really the first tme we were alone and could talk. ( we were roommates when we started seeing each other and have 3 other roomies)

Aww. We care! Happy Anniversary! :p
  • Ha, I appreciate it CCF.

I don't understand why people think being assholes on FB is any different than just flat out being an asshole of a person.

Anyway, carry on. I'm enjoying hearing about all the saxaversaries and drunken first dates.  ; )

  • Our first date was at TGIFridays. He had to drive an hour in a snowstorm. So on January 15th will  be our 7 year anniversary. Our Sexaversary is the weekend of Feb 13th, he lived an hour away, so we spent the weekend together.

The weird part is my ex-husband dropped me off and took our son to a friend of his for the weekend. And to make it even weirder the 13th would have been my ex and I's wedding anniversary. So yeah WE are weird.

  • The "technical" first time we went out we went to Del Taco. The one near our current house which is now closed. :-( I mean, it was a total roach motel, but still. Macho Nachos!

We usually go out for a nice fancy dinner now. Any excuse for good food and drinks we wouldn't splurge on otherwise.

Well, there's only so many dates in a year. So just look at it that way, haha.

On my first date with DH, we went to a coffee shop and talked for a few hours. Then he asked me if I wanted to come over to his house to watch movies, so I did. Thank God he wasn't an axe murderer.

I stayed over (don't judge! I slept on the couch!) and we went out for breakfast in the morning after he took me to the pier to watch the sunrise. It was fairly awesome.

ETA: Our first date anniversary is the same as our wedding anniversary, so we just celebrate that. For our first anniversary, we went to the apple orchard...hahaha. So romantic.

YES! I'm NOT the only one..! Our is 7/22/2007. :p
  • FI and I just celebrated our dating anniversary just last week.  He brought me home flowers and a new charm for my Pandora bracelet, that was it.  We didn't go out or do anything special.

  • We went to Panera for our first date.  That was it lol.  We met online originally and sat at Panera and talked for hours about everything and nothing.  It was pretty great.

We've never really celebrated in a big way for our dating anniversary just usually go out to dinner and such.  I'll be interested/excited to see what we do for our wedding anniversary =).

  • Our first date was at a local seafood place.  It was on a Sunday afternoon and we spent 5 hours just eating and talking.  That was July 8, 2007.  Our Sexaversary is July 14th.  Our "official" anniversary is July 21st.  For you HP fans, we decided on the day that HP and the Deathly Hallows came out that we were going to be exclusive.  Marriage was not anywhere NEAR our vocabulary then.

We celebrate our anniversary with dinner, a personal handfasting ceremony (just us in our home), and then fun stuff!  Wink

  • Congrats on 7 years, LTZ :)

FI and I went to a Mexican restaurant in Riverside (Jax, FL) on our first date. We didn't become a couple though for a couple months.
We don't celebrate dating anniversaries (mostly because I suck and don't remember it), but we will hopefully have fun wedding anniversaries. :))
  • What did you all do on your first dates with your H/FI/SO? Went out to dinner then back to my apartment to watch "Little Miss Sunshine."

And how do you currently celebrate your Anniversary? We usually exchange gifts, cards and go out to dinner.  This is for our dating anniversary but I assume that our wedding anniversary will be celebrated in a similar manner.
