Snarky Brides

A good day (Inspired by Nebb)

1) Had a great meeting with my advisor and was given an attagirl and a bunch of encouragement.

2) FI will finish writing his thesis today. (File and backup corrupted and he had lost it all) So, we get to go on a date tomorrow night

3) Picked up our wedding license today

umm... what else... Oh, yeah!

4) I freaking walked today!!!!!

It may have only been 40 feet, and it may only have been in a goofy, toddler shuffle, but damnit, I walked unassisted!

So, what's been good for for everyone else? What's worked? What are you happy about?

1- I got a care package of sorts from my mom. 4 jars of assorted homemade jams (without labels, i might add) and 3 jars of canned figs. 2 of the jars of figs broke, but I don't know what I would have done with 3 jars of figs in the first place.

2- I finished the review course part of my studying and will try to knock out the practice tests tonight and tomorrow so I can send my results in by noon tomorrow and get the key for the test. I'd like to be able to complete it before I get back to work on monday, but that may not happen. At least the studying is pretty much complete.

3- I get to go swimming tonight with my fave 6 year old. She'll be here in 30 minutes and we'll have a ball in the pool!

ETA: YAY for walking and the marriage license!!

  • Emma rolled over for the first time!!

Well, she did it twice yesterday, but that was on the couch and it was kind of on a slant.  Today she did it on the floor!  And we both got to see it.  :)

And she's currently sleeping in her pack n play...for now.  The past few nights she flipped out the second we put her down, so we held her for hours on end.  Here's hoping we can get a TON of unpacking done tonight!

  • It was a pretty average day for me. Nothing major except for knowing I get to sleep in tomorrow.

Well, I have something that makes me happy-sad. I talked to my mom a bit ago and she said they are moving my little brother off to college next Wednesday. She got teary telling me and said she doesn't know what she's going to do with an emtpy nest. I'm super happy and excited for him, but also sad but in a happy-sad kind of way), that he's all grown up and leaving.

I'm glad I decided to start this thread. it made me so happy reading everyones good news!

Seshat, even though there is a sad component, little brother growing up and going off to college is still happy news!)

Sucrets- Happy baby advancements! That is particularly awesome that you were both there to see it.

Sarah- I love figs. I have a recipe for chicken and figs that would be perfect, unless she sweetened the figs before canning them. In that case, I's simmer the figs with a bit of honey, red wine, and cinnamon and spoon it over ice cream.

Pasquale- That squirrel pic is my all time favorite. In the last few weeks, my friends have all started taking pictures of squirrels and then tagging me as the squirrel on FB. The last one was at the Grand Canyon!

  • For me it's the little things in life.  I'm finally home after a near 11 hour day at work, so that's a plus.  I'm also considering taking a bubble bath tonight, which would be an even bigger plus.

Oh, and super plus: Tomorrow is Friday!

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • YAY Emma!

Petra, I assumed she sweetened them. I love figs too, but I've never been the one to cook with them. 3 large jars is just too much for FI and I to handle. Mom said something about adding them to a cake mix with an egg, but I don't know about all that. Ice cream topping sounds good to me!

  • 1 - got up and worked out this morning
2 - got everything done at work that was on my list for the day.
3 - almost have my 5 Thank you cards done for the day (my goal is 5 per day after my shower last weekend, I'm on day #2 :))
4 - have my first dance lesson with FI tonight.  We decided we didn't want to do "junior high circles" so we are going to take a few lessons and learn some proper stance and steps (no choreography though, I can't stand when you can tell the bride and groom are counting steps :))

  • Yay!

Oh! I forgot the other awesome event of the day. I have been called for jury duty for the next 6 months (you get called on the phone, you don't have to sit in there every day), but they let me schedule the honeymoon off! Yipee!

  • This thread makes me happy too.

I'm done with 2/4 classes for a new certificate to earn more money at work.  I finally feel like I'm making a difference and going to help (finally) with more of the finances.  Anddd...I have a 4.0! :)

And I also think I will be taking a bubble bath tonight!

  • Aw I like this thread

    1) I don't feel like completely emotional crap thanks to several knotties so I am liking my life a little more.

    2) We got SO MUCH done today. Yes the caps were necessary. We put in all new light fixtures on the exterior of the house, hung up 10 pictures, installed a bathroom cabinet in the laundry room/bathroom and finished rearranging the living room. Tomorrow we're going curtain shopping and Dh is going to help me finish painting the last little bit of entrance way (aka, the part that is 30' high. I don't do ladders)

    3) It's finally raining! I might have green grass again which would definitely be a plus.

    4) My mom's crazy mood swings are a result of her Lyme's Disease coming back, and now that she knows that she can get treatment and is already much calmer. I feel like I have my momma back.

Ah! One more for the night! I just got done editing FI's thesis! He emails it to our advisor (yeah, she is so coming to the wedding) in the morning. From here on out, it's just revisions and preparing for his defense at the beginning of November. Yipee!

ETA: For him. I'm still hip deep in my research. Hence, spending all day, every day at the fission track scope.
