Bangs

I got bangs after the wedding.  I feel like my hair person is slowly giving me more and more bangs each cut. She also keeps them long despite my protestations that I need them shorter.  If I cut them myself will I end up looking like this?  Are there bang cutting techniques I can apply to my own face?

Re: Bangs

  • Mine looked like that when I cut them myself as a kid. My suggestions:

    Use really sharp scissors.
    Don't raise your eyebrows
Have someone else do it so you can hold still..

  • Fwiw - I think you would look terribly cute with more bangs, not that you are not cute already.

Secondly, if you are going to attempt this yourself, go out and buy brand new hair cutting scissors. Used scissors are a sure fire way to look for split ends or weird angles to your hair.

I kind of want full across bangs and thick and almost in my eyes. I am scared though because that was me ages 7-12.
  • To be fair, I wil note I have more bangs now than then and also had some stuck to my forehead from sweat in the picture in my sig.  This is more recent. So it's that, but longer and in my eyes all the time.

  • Night - I trust you if you want to cut them, but that pic you put up in the last post is AH-dorable. I vote no change :)

ps- I just showed the pic to Mike to see if he would want me to have ones like yours and he replied, "I like that dude's beard" hahaha
  • H has a good beard, it's true. It's great unless it's up my nose.  Then it's less great.

  • I love the bangs in the last pic btw. I agree with pp to use new scissors
  • I just read bang trimming tips in a magazine the other day. It said to hold the scissors vertically to avoid the straight across harsh lines. Also, ditto pp's about new, sharp, hair cutting scissors.

I need to try trimming my own too. I have the full bangs and I seriously have to stop in the salon every 2 weeks for a trim or else I have to start sweeping them to the side bc they're in my eyes. Your side bangs are really cute,.

I could say something here but I will refrain. I think that means I need more beer :P
  • In envy your beer.  I'll be in class from 6:30 to 8:00.
