Beauty Balm?

Re: Beauty Balm?

  • I'm using absolutely nothing lately because with this heat, I just melt.

    plus I'm a tree-hugging hippie.  ;)
  • I've used the Garnier brand they mention in the article--honestly, I hated it!  I have really oily skin, and it made my skin look even more shiny. The way they market this stuff it seems like it's going to be some miracle makeup but it didn't cover any of my red spots from acne either....I was so disappointed!

I'm interested in what others have to say though-maybe it was just my skin type, or I needed a better brand?

I used the Garnier BB Cream- i truthfully had convinced myself I liked it, but it made my skin feel really greasy. I really didn't like the consistency of it, and the tint didn't match my skin tone very well.

But, it's one of the cheapest BB creams out there, so there's that. I'd be interested to try a better one.

    haha, jinx jujub.

  • Yeah, the general consensus is that most people hate the Garnier one, which I expected since it's a third of the cost of the other brands.  I have a gift certificate to Sephora so I don't mind splurging.  I was looking at maybe trying the Too Faced one or Stilla.

  • I swear by Boots No. 7 (from Target).  Tinted moisturizer SPF 15 in the summer, and some sort of serum (can't remember the name) under foundation in the winter.  Even though I love their products, I usually have to blot my forehead in the afternoon.

  • Oooh.  Thank you for reminding me that Target carries Boots.  I was hooked on that stuff when I studied abroad and I keep forgetting to look for it.

I spent $55 on Mary Kay yesterday.  Meh.

  • For skin care I use Meaningful Beauty and this face doesn't even really NEED makeup, bitches.  Doesn't mean I don't wear a crapton of it anyway though :)

  • Ha!  Love it.

My skin looks like shiiit since I birthed the behbeh.  I had great pregnancy skin.  Sigh.

  • I have nothing to add here but I wanted to wave at MFJ.

  • I've tried the Garier BB cream, and for the price... it's not terrible. Not great coverage if you need it though, and I think it did make my face shiny.  I follow with a quick dust of powder and it seems to take care of it.

I haven't tried them, so I can't weigh in on that, but I wanted to say that if you buy it at Sephora, at least you can return it if you hate it.  I would go onto their website and look at the reviews of the ones you're thinking of buying.  I've actually bought two different colors of foundation on their website and returned the one that didn't work to the store.  Their return policy is phenomenal.

Let us know how it turns out!
