What's your Christmas dinner menu?

I am sure this has been done before, I know that I have seen Anna's posted at least...sorry if it has been done recently...

If you are cooking Christmas dinner, what in on your menu?

If you are not cooking dinner, what is one thing that you hope WILL be served and one thing you how WON'T be served?

If you do not celebrate Christmas, do you have a food that you associate with celebrations?

  • We're doing 4 different Christmas celebrations between Christmas eve and Christmas Day and I can't wait until we get to my parents house Christmas night. Daddy is frying 3 turkeys. That's really all I need in life.

So I am not responsible for apps or dessert, just the main meal...

I am going to make a turkey that has sage and rosemary butter between the skin and the meat, stuffed with stuffing that has bacon, granny smith apples and sage in it, then I am using two Jamie Oliver recipes for the sides: roasted root veggies (potatoes, carrots and turnips) and creamy baked leeks.

    mmmmm...

technically we are eating this on boxing day since that is when the whole family (DH's side) can be together. On Christmas day we (DH, MIL, FIL, one SIL and I) are having make your own pizza and then I am making crepes with nutella and strawberries for dessert.  Edit: this meal is being referred to as 'a celebration of flat things'.
  • Clam Chowder and Crab for Christmas Eve
And I believe we're having ham, cauliflower salad, fruit, rolls and probably more that I don't know of for Christmas.
We're going to our cabin this year and there will be about 12 of us and we all bring something to add.
  • I just posted this on the thread below, but I'm making a three-course pie-based meal. Vegetable tart for a first course, salad and chicken pot pie for the main course, and chocolate cream pie for dessert.

    I love pie.

  • Number, your Christmas Day meal sounds awesome!  I love homemade pizza, and crepes are my favorite, and I am powerless against Nutella.  Powerless.

  • I love fondue! I need to get a good set to do it with.

I also like the idea of ham, vegetable tarts and mac and cheese.

I had cake balls on the counter at home. I miss them. My waistline doesn't though.

  • Oh, I do know that FMIL is bringing turtle cake for dessert.  I'm pretty excited about that.  It sounds delicious.

I love gumbo, a friend just dropped some off this week.  I'd eat it every day if I knew how to cook, and wasn't lazy.

  • This is my first big meal I'm hosting, and my first ham, so I'm a little terrified.  But it should be fun!  I wanted to make lasagna but FI realllly wanted ham, and after thinking about how ham would be less work, he won.

    Everyone's menus sound really good.

  • I don't eat mammals, so I've been having some sort of pasta dish for the holidays since I was about 11 years old. My mom started making it for me so that I would eat more than just mashed taters for holiday dinners. I carry on the tradition with BF's family
  • I love it too Vegas! Unfortunately my H does not so I have to make the ham for him!
    image
  • If I didn't eat mammals and I didn't want turkey, I think I'd have salmon for holiday meals.  But pasta is a good choice too, I love pasta.  Maybe pasta AND salmon.

    Now I want salmon.
