Snarky Brides

oooooooooh i am gonna get it

First of all this is NOT meant to be mean, rude, or judgmental.... that being said:

To those girls who are already married... why do you keep coming on The Knot? Do you just love reliving your day? Have post wedding blues? Is The Nest just not as exciting?

Once again, really just wondering, no offense meant. I do love reading these posts at work... and I know the few questions I have asked have not been popular, I am curious.

I hear there are wedding blues after its all said and done... and after planning for 2 years I am not sure I will miss it! Innocent Has that happened to any of the ladies out there??

Happy Hump Day everyone!!

Re: oooooooooh i am gonna get it

  • Creatures of habit, I guess. That and fear of change.

I do not miss wedding planning one bit, though.

  • I come because I've made friends here. And I also found the advice of the "marrieds" helpful when I was planning, so I try to be helpful as well when the mood strikes.

I don't think I have post-wedding blues, but then I took up a hobby toward the end of planning. I was relieved to have it over with.

  • 1) If the "marrieds" didn't stay here then when it comes to wedding advice it would be the blind leading the blind. They've been there. They know there shiznit

    2) Friendships are formed when you talk everyday. I think a lot of people hang around because they enjoy the camaraderie here!

  • I don't have wedding blues at all. After planning my wedding via the knot for 8 months I developed deep relationships with the posters and enjoy talking to them. I also have found TN to be very judgemental and don't feel like I fit any of the boards as well as I do here.

I'm also a firm beliver that the advice of the already married ladies on this board is more valid than the planners. How can someone say what worked for their wedding if they haven't had it yet? If everyone left when they were married it would be a board of the blind leading the blind.

  • I only have 7 words for you: These bitches are my hos, ya know?

Well, perhaps 5 words and 2 colloquialisms.

  • The Nest scares me.. I never know what they're doing back there..

But in all seriousness I really enjoyed being on TK during the months I was planning my wedding and I enjoy talking with everyone about wedding and non-wedding related things. Now that I've been through it I also feel like I can give better advice to the girls who are currently planning their wedding.

Basically I think TK is fun and I don't want to go over to TN where I'm assuming they talk about more adultish stuff... I mean they have boards called Gardening and Landscaping, and Cleaning and Organizing... eek!
  • I also think if people take the time to look, they'll notice that 90%f the conversations that the "marrieds" take part in have nothing to do with weddings. It's about TV, current events, whats going on in their lives and anchorman quotes. It's just an online community. The fact the board is a "bridal" board is completely beside the point.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • I like the people here. We have interesting conversations, and many of us have developed some level of friendship outside of the boards. Many of these ladies have met IRL. Participating in a 'good morning' thread is something like meeting friends for coffee. Yes, it's primarily a wedding website, but it's also a community of people who met through a common interest.

  • I come because the time spent on here whilst planning led to me developing friendships with girls here. It's got very little to do with weddings themselves, I'm afraid!
  • DItto PPs. And add to that I am thrilled my wedding is over. I hated almost every second of planning.
  • I'm reliving my wedding. Everyday. I'm actually wearing my wedding dress right now because I sleep in it.

We hardly ever talk about weddings here on SB. I just like the people and the conversation. I did not talk about wedding planning much on TK even when I was planning stop to think of it.

Truth be told, I do not think many people actually have post wedding blues or miss the planning. I know I don't.

It's true. Cew is like the board's very own Miss Havisham. If she offers, don't eat the cake.

ETA: Gah, this ended up on some random E thread the first time it posted. Freaky.

  • I feel so empty inside now. All I had in life was looking forward to the wedding. I think I might divorce my H and get back together with him just so I can plan it again.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • B, I feel like if we could see your face in your sig right now, it would have the look of someone realizing they've just peaked in life. Hugs to you.

p.s. Seriously though, I do want you to plan another wedding, just so I could go. ;)

  • If you look really close you can see my head hanging in my sig pic. It was taken right after the realization hit me.

I'll just have to plan a party and invite you :)

  • Can we have a wedding-themed party? We can invite Cew and wear our wedding dresses.

  • Definitely. We'll bring cardboard cutouts of grooms (because we don't need boys spoiling our party).

[QUOTE]This is a good thread, I've been mostly lurking on here for the past few weeks and have kinda gotten a feel for the 'regulars'. We are 38 days away from the wedding and I have to say I am so ready for it to be OVER and get to the HONEYMOON already! I intend to continue lurking...maybe I should change my name to "Lurker"...

    Ditto that :^)
  • I think I might have to buy a long white ACTUAL wedding dress to come to that party.

I don't think I even used the site to plan, beyond finding a cake baker recommendation on the Vegas board. Seriously.

This is such a great idea. Just think of all of the new stains I'll be able to add to my dress! I'm tired of the same old boring cheetos and champagne thing that I've got going on now.
