Hello, welcome to my lengthy rant.

I am pissed off to hell at Alltel. 

I am angry that their commercials are still running in North Dakota with Chad being all "There's never been a better time to switch to Alltel!" when in fact AT&T purchased Alltel towers in ND and is forcing everyone to switch over.  So yeah, Chad.  There have been better times to switch to Alltel, like before when it was actually Alltel and not AT&T.

I am angry that I did not get a bill this month.  I called four (ONETWOTHREEFUCKINGFOUR) different Alltel stores in Fargo before I got a person, who then told me that he couldn't look up my account (LIES!) so I should call customer service.  I spent 15 minutes on customer service trying to find a person, to no avail.  I paid my bill by phone.  But do I know if I will get a bill next month?  No.  Because I can't find a person to tell me.

The reason I didn't get a bill, I believe, is because I moved.  I did fill out the change of address form at the post office AND on the back of the stub when I sent in my last bill.  So the douche in the billing department who processed my last payment is either not that observant or a really moronic dipshit.  I prefer to think that it's a combination of the two.

I am also angry that I have to go and get a new (but it's FREE so it's OKAY!  or you can upgrade to an iPhone ZOMG!  ...yeah well fuckyouriPhone) phone and have to choose between two or three pieces of shiit phones or be forced to pay for a new one.

I want to switch to Verizon but I don't know if Ben and I can keep our phone numbers (apparently, he has an emotional attachment to his).  I would love to call a Verizon store to inquire about this.  However I am too pissed off at Alltel and their automated bullshit right now to even attempt calling Verizon for fear of having to "press 1 for billing."

Verizon bought Alltel here.  I think you can keep your number if you switch.  Verizon basically let us pick our own numbers last time we changed our contract, we have different area codes on the same plan.

See, I think that's sooooo weird, because around here Verizon bought Alltel long ago, and AT&T never worked well up there.  Actually, AT&T dropped FI when he was in Fargo because he was outside their service area.  (I realize that their service area now includes what was Alltel's service area, but still.)  I wish AT&T would have dropped me, because I hated them and wanted them to die.

Anyway, I advocate for a switch to Verizon because I hate AT&T with a fiery passion.

You shouldn't have a problem switching to Verizon and keeping your number.  FCC regulations require companies to allow you to keep your number as long as you're in the same general area.

Fiesty and hissy and still absolutely freakin' adorable.  I fostered a litter of them once and they were like fuzzy balls of clawed popcorn.

Anyway, I'm almost positive you can port a number to Verizon.  I've had Verizon for a million years and it rocks. 

I'm sorry Alltell is being dumb.  Sounds like Chad needs a kick in the shins.

I was so irritated when I switched from AT&T to Alltel because my area code was one of 3 in the area that they couldn't port.  I WAS MAD.

This is all very unfortunate because I actually do really enjoy the service I've been getting from Alltel.  But now they can lick my nuts.

At least your Alltel switched to a national company, my area got bought out by a "new" business, and I no longer live in that area. So I am SOL when something is wrong with mine, because I'd have to make a 4 hour round trip.

I know this probably doesnt help.. but my experience with Verizon was absoloutley terrible. The service is probably ok where you are, but to call the 1800 number and talk to a customer service rep is a joke. Not helpful or friendly whatsoever. That is IF you CAN get a real person, and not an automated thingy. I liked US Cellular alot when I had them.

AATB- Verizon is cool, go with them.  If  your broadcast company uses Verizon too, you should be able to get a corporate discount even on your personal line.  Worth a look see at least.

My FI feels the same way when she sees the AT&T commercials bragging about how super wonderful their network is.  I have verizon and she has an iphone and at least half the time when we're out her phone won't have a 3g signal or if it does, it will be crawling anyway, while my phone is fast nearly everywhere we go.

Dude I feel your man's attachment to his phone number. I'd HATE to give mine up because I got it in high school and thus got to choose the fact that my last four numbers spell something awesome. It's one of the following (though I won't tell which for fear that someone on here wants my balls and will try to stalk me).
