about doing a Secret Santa?

I didn't participate last year but I am wondering how people liked it who did participate. I also don't know how people feel about the privacy issues involved. Ideas? Thoughts? Random bodily noises?

hmmm some one involved last year can tell me more... It grew out of the knot fb group I believe...

There was definitely a price cap ($20?) and basically someone collected addresses and randomized pairings. I wouldn't mind doing this if people were cool with it. Then you get like a month or two to send your person something and it is your choice if you reveal yourself to the recipient or not. I know some people never ended up getting anything which was a bummer but I would definitely be interested in starting it.

Tide, was it you who organized last year?I am up for any or all input.

It was really fun to see what people got in threads on here and stuff.

 Yeah that was really shitty for some people to agree and then not send a gift.

As the person that organized the E SS last year, the biggest problem that I ran into was that some people didn't follow through on their gifts, so while participants sent a gift to a SS, they did not receive theirs.  Of course, I was also in the midst of having a baby at the time, so I kind of lost track of the SS stuff in the end.

So. Someone needs to be in charge of organizing and someone needs to be in charge of busting the knee-caps of people who agree and then don't send gifts.

Im in.  I like the idea of M&M organizing it and giving out the personal info.  Sounds pretty good to me.

Okay I say this year if someone agrees to do this and does not send a gift the giftee gets to call her out and we totally get to mock and same the gifter.

I used Elfster to organize it.  Everyone that wanted to participate would input their information into their personal account.  Elfster would randomly assign SSs.  Each person could only view the personal information for the person that they drew.  The organizer was the only person with access to all of the information.

M&M, I'll let you spearhead it this year.  I will say though that a FB group for it would be the best place to announce it, and all related information; that way you don't have random lurkers trying to sign up.

Yes I agree with Tide. I don't think lurkers or really new people should be able to play. It's weird.

But not everyone will know - Elfster will only reveal your address to the person who is going to send your gift.
