more cake! (WR)

Ok so reading the post about cake really makes me want cake. thanks guys.

It also got me thinking about my wedding cake dilemma. I heart cake. Like so much that I don't have a favorite... so I am having a difficult time choosing my wedding cake... not to mention I am not a huge fan of the conventional huge cake.

SO I had this crazy idea that I could have EVERY cake that I want at my wedding, sort of a wedding cake buffet. I googled it and found some super pretty set ups of folks who did the same thing.. I am just wondering if this would cause people to pig out on cake.. thoughts?

  • You b!tches are killing me today!! Tongue out

I like any kind of dessert buffet. I had a candy buffet and it was the biggest hit of the night.

  • What do you have in mind? Pics?

    ditto this.

I don't think a cake buffet will cause a pig-out session, but those of us... ahem... me... will definitely solve the "I can't choose" dilemma by just taking one piece of each  ;)
  • I like those pictures. I would pig out but that is okay. You want people to eat, right?
    image
  • *waves every sugary treat in front of Ang" You have to want it! Give up the sugar!!

I'm not sure how I feel about a cake buffet. I'm honestly not a huge fan of most cakes and neither are most of your friends. I would be worried about having to throw away a bunch of cakes at the end of the night.
  • Dang Katie. You are a meanie :P

ha! yes, of course. I would just wonder how to estimate the amount of cake we need.

I would totally pig out too.. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. This is definitely my favorite wedding thing so far.

How do you know if my friends are fans of cake??? <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
Seriously though, I know if no one else ate cake, my family would totally devour it. We like sugar like that.

And you should quit teasing Ang-thats just mean. (but funny!)
  • Oh man yes! I love peaches.
    image
  • I know all things ;)

I wish I liked cake more, they look so yummy but they just aren't worth the calories to me :(
  • I have a good friend that does not like sweets at all.

  • I'm getting that way and it makes me sad. I was told to cut out gluten and sugar and I'm sorta kinda doing it. Now I can't stand soda in a can (but fountain is still good) and most cookies/sweets are gross. I know it's better for me but it makes me sad.
  • I think it's a fun idea. We had cake and then an assortment of bite sized cheescake. I would just do several small pieces so people could try several different kinds.

  • Katie, that isn't a bad thng. Too much sugar is a bad thing!

Yes, Jas has a good idea. You should do cakes, cheesecakes and poundcakes. Maybe even a chiffon or angel food to mix it up.

Yea, I was thinking besides the usual yellow, chocolate, lemon, red velvet, carrot, etc. that I also want cheesecake, cupcakes, pound cake and petit fours.
The chiffon or angel food is a good idea too!

Also thanks for that link on how to estimate for cake size, etc.

Thats a good idea to do smaller pieces... give people the illusion of pigging out!

  • I do love me some petit fours...

I could get on board with a bite-sized cake buffet. Then you have a bite of each and still have the same consumption as a normal big piece, but have a lot more to be happy about.
  • I think this is a really neat idea! You could do it really fun!

  • Thanks everyone.. going to email my cake lady now (who makes the most amazing petit fours EVER)
Will let you all know how it turns out!!!
