Snarky Brides

Good Thursday Morning SB...

It is morning. I still have a sore throat...I think it is strep, to be confirmed by the wonders of 10-minute strep test some time this morning I hope, as long as I can get my VP to cover my class for a period so I can go to the doc's...really, I should be at home but that isn't going to work today. Bleh.

In other (better) news, all of the menus, programs and the like are done for the wedding! I have one more paper project (mad libs) and then I am done with that stuff! And all the gifts (save one) are bought. Now the wrapping is to begin!

What are you lovely ladies up to today?

• Good morning!!
Oh yucky---strep throat is the worst! I haven't had it in years, but the thought of it makes me shudder; hope you start feeling better soon!

I'm happy today is Thursday, because I need this week to be over ASAP. It's dragging me down like no other.

• Strep throat sucks; sorry you're still not feeling well.

I woke up a little early today to get my crockpot chili going. mmmm. My house is going to smell so good when I get home from work :)

• Sorry about the strep throat. That sucks. But hey, better to get it over with now instead of in a week, right?

Steph, so am I invited to dinner? I want me some crock pot chili.

I woke up this morning and H was putting the dishes away and washing the ones from last night (and I made a shiitton from dinner). He must want something, but I'm not complaining. I hate putting the dishes away. So that got my Friday (yay, I can finally sleep in tomorrow) started off on the right foot for sure.
• Good morning! Mad Libs sound cute!

• I feel you on the strep! I had the blood test for mono today (and H as well)- so over being sick! For some reason our doctor didn't do the strep test, though, hmm.

I hope you feel better soon!

• Good morning! Number, I'm so excited that you are just about a week away. YAY! Pirategal is this weekend, no?

Strep and the flu are going around here. Guess its time for that flu shot. My coworker and I swapped some duties yesterday and she took over the student accounts office from me. Today the sutdent accounts supervisor is out because her son has the flu, and the other position in that office is out because her daughter has strep. I am kind of glad I don't HAVE to deal with that anymore, except that they will lean on me for help. Oh well.

So the new job duties take me out of contact with students and reduce my staff from 5 to 2.5. The .5 is a vacant student intern position that won't be filled until April. While this sounds bad for my resume, I am adding more financial reporting to my plate, so it evens out. Plus, I may get to have my windows and door frosted so I can actually concentrate in my office without people disturbing me every 5 minutes. That will rock!

So I'm a bit more optimistic about the long term part of hte changes that we made yesterday, but still scared about what the next 7 weeks will bring, with the transition phase. I probably won't be around much except at night, which sucks. I like the day crew too!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

• Good Morning, Ladies!
I hope you feel better, Number. I used to get strep a few times a year and it blows.
Hang in there, Sarah.
So - we had crockpot stew at B's last night; tonight we're having chili at Steph's. We'll be over at 6.
Have a great day, everyone.

• Strep sucksssss I'm sorry =(

Thanks to stress, I woke up with a canker sore in my mouth that is so painful it makes me eyes water when I talk. People are starting to think I'm in a bad mood because I'm keeping to myself, but really I just don't want to be in pain =(

Hope everyone else is having a great morning!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Number.

I probably won't be around much today. I have a ton of crap to get done :(

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

• Morning! Today is my fake Friday AND that means I get a 4 day weekend. Thank you Canadian Thanksgiving!

Strep sucks. Seriously. I also used to get it several times a year. Have some ice cream.

Thanks Steph, that seems easy enough. I really want to try out a good chilli or stew for the cold weather and for when we have people over during football games.

When I do try it, and it doesn't suck I'll come back and AW the hell out of it.

By the way, I thought I'd share this with you al because it was so good.

Buy apple cider, boil it with a few cinnamon sticks. Then pour a shot or two of spiced rum into it and voila! It's so good. I had some this past weekend and it's a great fall/winter drink.
• Good morning :)

One of my bridesmaids came in last night and we stayed up way too late talking. She's in med school so I don't get to see her a lot, it was great to catch up, but I'm regretting staying up so late.

I have my hair trial in a couple hours, then it's random wedding errands and stuff the rest of the day. I forgot to have my ring cleaned before I left town yesterday, so I have to go find a Jared around here. It's platinum so it looks funny next to the new band if it's not all polished up.

I don't know if Jenny is around much anymore, or if Mery has signed off yet, but happy wedding weekend to both of you! :)
• Morning. I was 5 minutes late today (well, 3 minutes past my "window"). Sucks. I couldn't get out of bed this morning. It was all just too perfect. And, this is day 5 of the head/chest cold whatever I was generously given by by dear husband. We've both been fever-free, so I don't think it's the flu. But I had to cancel my flu shot on Tuesday and move it to next week.

Coconut-headed, Wookie-noise making Max can't get used to me going to bed before J gets home. He thinks there's something off. I hope this changes soon. Go with the flow, furry son, go with the flow.

• Good Morning ladies.

Sorry your sick Numbers. Take care of yourself, you have a wedding soon! I think you need some TLC, soup, warm bath, tea, and a nice robe.

Pirate-YAY for wedding weekend!

Today I have a sinus headache, so I did not want to get up. I went home yesterday and played suzie homemaker. I had dinner ready for DH, and chopped everything we need to make his beef stew this weekend.

• Aw, Les, baby Muenster is so cute. Are you keeping him? Please say yes.

Cheddar needs to man up and be a good big brother. Lots of cuddling and sharing of delicious treats.
• Morning everyone.
Have fun various soon-to-be-marrieds! :D

I am home, sick as all get out. Unless I can find someone to cover for me, I need to start calling 35 kids and cancel rehearsal tonight.

Tell me about this Canadian Thanksgiving. What is the history/premise? American Thanksgiving involves a story about Pilgrims and Indians and corn. I have a pretty awesome pop-up book about it.
image
• Jas: Google tells me this.

In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north.

The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This is considered the first Canadian Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted and had an inlet of the www.twilightbridge.com/hobbies/festivals/thanksgiving/canada/#" target="_top" class="kLink" onmouseover="adlinkMouseOver(event,this,1);" onmouseout="adlinkMouseOut(event,this,1);">Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him - Frobisher Bay.
No, I don't think it's bronchitis. It isn't low enough in my chest - unless it's so packed I can't feel it. My sinuses have started to drain because my nose and face ache. I brought a warming thing for my lunch break today. Thanks for asking, though. Delsym grape is the shiit for cough medicine at night. It even tastes good, and it's for grownups. Yep, I'm the one who bought Dimetapp as a grownup simply because it didn't take like assfire.
Anyone up for a little more kitteh cuteness? My daughter was holding him last night: But Cheddar is really, really pissed. He didn't ask for a baby brother, doesn't want a baby brother, and might just eat the little one.
Posted by LesPaul
AW! I love little Muenster! Can you ship him to me?

On second thought maybe not, if you think Cheddar's mad you should see a pissed Tobie.
We watched DH's daughters 2 cats while they were living in Ireland. Within 4 months they had to find another place to take them. Tobie doesnt play at all, I had to get between them at one point with a rug (to keep me from being bit) he still drew blood on my calf. It was a bad situation.

We would love to adopt another, but it'll never happen. He only likes the dog.

Les, maybe try bribery via treats? I've heard that petting them both at the same time can help, as well as giving treats when the old cat doesn't hiss or growl at the new cat. I've also heard of crating both and set them so they can see each other and get sued* to their smells/sights.

Is Muenster his official name? I'm going to always call him that regardless.

*Used* That's what I get for no proofing
• I'm sorry everyone is sick. I had to avoid one of my favorite coworkers yesterday because she has a bad cough, and I have a four day weekend starting tomorrow, and I don't want to be sick for it!

I have wedding to go to this weekend also, so we're off to Omaha. I've never been. We're going to try to go to the zoo! The weather is supposed to be perfect!

Congrats to everyone getting married this weekend. Just remember to breathe and take it all in. This is months or years of work, so make sure you pause to remember the special moments.

• Happy Thursday!

I am determined to have a good day. I had the biggest fight with my bed this morning and that damn thing almost won! I wanted to call off so bad but I know that I am going to be off for a bunch of days NEXT month, so I will press on.

I think we came up with a good signature drink. we are going to do a pineapple martini and call it First Kiss. The other drinks I was looking at all had champagne and I wanted to give everyone something different.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

May is so nice though. It'll so by quickly. We had a nine-month engagement and it FLEW by. It also got a bit stressful at the end. If I were to do it again, I would have had a longer engagement or a smaller wedding. What kind of d-bag elbows you in the face? Poor you.
