Dress Fitting

Just got back from my dress fitting.  I have serious dress remorse.  The dress is a two in one style and I think that is what sold me.  I love the reception portion of the dress, but I don't really like the ceremony portion.  I think it makes me look heavier than I am and isn't very flaterring. Maybe i'm overthinking.  It isn't in the budget to get a new one, so this is my only option. Maybe it will grow on me again? Here are the pics.

FI was being helpful and I asked him to put my bra with my shoes to take today. He put a regular bra.  I have to take it home and try it on with my wedding bra and then take it back if it needs to be adjusted.

I somewhat felt rushed and that they were annoyed with having to stop what they were working on even though I had an appointment.  Maybe that just left the bad taste in my mouth.

  • I like your dress. Maybe I'm dumb, but I didn't realize they made two in one dresses. Cute idea!
Also, I think you're very pretty.

  • Oh I think you look lovely!  That's a very fun, flirty style of dress.  You look beautiful.

  • I think they are both really flattering! I like the ceremony style, I think it accentuates your waist really well.
  • Wow. Thank you all very much for the comments.  I'm sure I'm just over analyzing and I'll be happy again with it by the date.

But seriously- you have to walk through all the other gorgeous dresses to get to alterations and that isn't very helpful.

  • YOu look awesome. Once the hem is pressed and the dress is steamed, it will hang different, I promise. You can always experiment with different amounts of fluff under the dress to see what you like better.

I tried to do that thinking it would look better, but the outside snaps in under the fabric around my waist (you lift it up and just add this extra layer of fabric) so the fluff would have to go on top of the shorter dress to be under the longer.  It wasn't really doing what it needed to.

She told me that they steamed the dress before I came. Does it not look steamed?  Maybe I need to take it elsewhere for that?

I see this too.  See how part of the hem looks like it's not touching the floor?  That's what Sarah's talking about (I think)

You look really pretty in both.  I like the look.  Do you have jewelry picked out?
  • Sarah- I see what you mean. I think it was the way I was standing. I'll check that out further.  The ripping off of the dress is my plan :) I am excited for it!

Pirate- don't have jewelry picked yet but I'm thinking about doing a pearl necklace from etsy.  I got THESE for my BM to wear. They have silver chains with a dark grey pearl.  I might get the same with a white pearl and matching earrings.

ETA: I like what you posted, but I don't think it's enough.  Look at the first pic of you in the dress, you can barely see your necklace.  The pearl one your BMs will wear is even more subtle.

These are all very pretty, but not really my style.  I only wore a necklace today to get a general feel of it, otherwise I NEVER wear jewelry.  I guess I have a hard time spending over 100.00 for a necklace that I'll wear once. KWIM?

    Yes.

But 1) Do you generally go around in long white dresses?  It's a day to wear things you don't normally wear.

and B) It doesn't have to be expensive, you could even make one for cheap (it's easy) those were just quick examples.

Also, you have really nice posture and look beautiful in the first pic, but my eye is drawn straight towards your chest.  Not your pretty face.  That's what made someone say it looked a tad bit tight on top, it's because that's where the eye is drawn.

Something with a little shine (like pearls) or sparkle higher up will help draw people's eye up to your beautiful face and away from your breasts.
