Re: Halloween

  • Raynes- Mario and Peach! So cute!

Last year FI was a Seagull, and his costume was (made by me) and ridiculous but sort of awesome. I was a clown...

this year I want to be a drag queen! Like that movie, Connie and Carla- where they are women who are pretending to be men, who are dressed up like women. I think most people will probably think I'm just Lady Gaga though...

  • Rho, those are awesome!

  • thanks!
I'm a huge halloween nerd! Some friends and I get together and go to a pumpkin patch and carve them and eat apple cider donuts with hot spiced (and spiked) cider...ah, fall!

I'm thinking maybe Tina Turner this year for Halloween circa 'Proud Mary' time period...

[QUOTE]MJ I love those! I also carve pumpkins and each year I try to out-do myself. I've been on a pin-ups kick, so here's last year's pin-up pumpkin and the year before

Cool pumkins guys. I havent done one in years, may have to rectify that this year.

Rho- was thinking the last one kind of resembles you in your siggy pose.

  • Halloween is always one of our favorite times of the year. We always dress up but never matching, mostly because I think "sexy eskimo" and he thinks "Top Gun," doesn't exactly go. I'd post pictures if I didn't half of my outfits from Frederick's - oops!
  • I waaaaaaant to dress up and hand out candy. But we live in a condo apartment building and for some reason there are no kids here. Everyone and his brother has a dog but I can't remember the last time I saw a kid. No, there's a little boy who's about two and likes to wave at everyone in the elevator, but I haven't seen him in a while.

Can't wait to have my own house. In the meantime I dress up if I have a party to go to. I can't be bothered with those "sexy [insert something here]" costumes so I make my own. The best one recently was Urania, the muse of astronomy.

  • We totally deck the house out and have a huge Halloween party.  I sometimes dress up and sometimes don't.  I do end up plastered every year on and I cook at least 15 different items of food.

This year I'm going to be a Hooker something.....hooker witch or a hooker angel or possibly a hooker nurse.  I don't want to be a regular hooker.  Um so I've included pictures below of the house decorated.  I'm a dork.

Ya so the witch hangs her laundry

    over my sink....
Our fishtank must be decorated as well....

Sooo the jar with the lights has floating eyeballs.  It randomly starts to bubble and glurb....
Getting the table ready for putting food out....

    Upstairs fireplace.....

Yes I do have a haunted eyeball cider dispenser and a cauldrom punch bowl.  I told you.....I love Halloween

Final photo I promise....I spent a lot of time cutting out mice to run up the stairs.  Lexus is concerned about why mommy is taking pictures all over the place...

Sorry for the long post!  I got a tad bit excited.
  • Glad I'm not the only one that dresses up as a hooker lol!
  • We love Halloween. Johnny Depp is the FI favorite actor, and for the past few years we've had Johnny Depp theme going with the costumes. We were pirates, he was of course Jack Sparrow. We've done Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovette, and gangsters as a sort of homage to Public Enemies and him playing Dillinger. This year we are doing The Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. I refused t be alice or a frikkin' Queen. They are way over done. I already have most of both of the costumes.

Aprove--love it! I would do that, but our place isn't big enough. Just wait til we move and can have our own halloween parties...I'm going nuts!

The party we went to a few years ago did cool decorations. they did a "Psycho" shower scene--something to think about! =)

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Halloween : I really want to do this now.  Where does one get a skeleton for this purpose? We usually dress the dogs up, watch silly halloween movies (because I hate actually scary movies) and throw candy at children.  Sometimes we'll have friends over.  I haven't dressed up in a few years, I'm not very creative.  At my university, Halloween was the biggest holiday of the year.  People started planning their Halloween costumes in the spring.  Entire sections of the town were blocked off for the party.  It was crazy.

I would looove to go back to another Halloween there! So much fun! I feel a little old to ramble around with the college kids now tho. ;)

I'm pretty sure i will be working, so no fun times for me.

  • Other: I'm running a 10k in the morning and there's a little party after. That night we're going to the Halloween parade in our city, which usually draws about 1/2 a million people.

  • I have decided that if I'm going out on Halloween, I will only go to gay bars/clubs. We went to a regular bar last year and I didn't like it. I like to have homemade, pop-culture inspired costumes. Two years ago I was David Bowie's Aladdin Sane, and last year I was Sookie Stackhouse. I think this year I will probably go as an Omega Mu and H as a Tri-Lam. I have a sewing machine, so I can make some costumes for us if necessary.

  • I love Halloween. I'm already thinking about my costume, but I haven't decided yet. One of our friends has a HUGE house party every year - luckily her neighbors are cool! 2 years ago was her last party, she didn't have one last year because she was out of the country. She organized a scavenger hunt in her neighborhood and we had a full keg and a bunch of mixed drinks. :D

  • FI and I will dress up only if we have a place to go.  If our friends decide to go out or have a party we're in.  Or else we'll stay home.

  • I dress up and go over to my parents house for Halloween. Next year we may do something at our house, but we still don't have a railing on the front stairs and want to put more money into Christmas.
I have no clue what I'm going to be but my parent's theme this year is Seuss. Along with candy they are giving out kids books, marbles and glow sticks. I know the marbles and glow sticks sound cheesey, but last year we went through about 250 glow sticks, but had tons of candy left over. Kids would come back at the end of the night and ask for more glow sticks or marbles. It's really cute.

The leaf path into the driveway. The little kids had a blast running through the leaves and jumping in them. The older ones were terrified of the piles because they thought something would jump out.

The inside of the carport. When it's dark there are only Christmas lights and a spot (you'll see in a minute) giving light so it's ridiculously creepy. Dad also has little sound sensitive spiders and bats that fall from the ceiling if we snap our finger under them. We don't do that for the little kids, just the bigger ones.

The bride and groom. This isn't a very good picture though. We used my mom's old wedding dress and hung it on fishing line. The kids were really creeped out by the floating hair and dress.

Me stirring the cauldron. Fog machines rock!

Creepy alien face coming out of the wall. It was on a delayed sound timer so that when sound happened in front of it it would gradually start glowing.

  • we are going to Baltimore (woot, I'm meeting Salt, Sco, and Tide!) that weekend and we're flying home Halloween Day. If the BIL and FSIL have plans for us that Saturday night, I am not yet aware. I'm down with dressing up if they want to do something.
