Which would you rather hear a presentation on as far nutrition policies

Why I think Salt intake doesn't necessarily cause high BP

or

Why lunches brought from home should be monitored

or

Why registered dietitians should be included as a necessary part of the health care team.

I am not sure which one to do, I think the first one would be less offensive to the class than the second one, and the third one seems boring but of important to everyone in the class.

  • A bunch or Registered Dietitians and Registered dietitian students who are grad and PhD students. We have one grad anthropologist student in our class and he studies the food patterns of civilizations of the past.

  • Yeah, I think the first one may be the way to go because I can find more research on the subject.

  • I think the first one would be something I'd definitely be interested in and I think applicable to everyone..  Now, the second one could be quite controversial so if you're looking to make a big impression I'd go with that one.
  • I think the first and third topics are interesting.  I agree with you that the second could be polarizing and maybe turn into a more political discussion - it could lead to a good debate, but I suspect most of it would be off-topic.

My pick is #1 - good luck!
  • I actually would love to hear an argument for #2.

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • Considering your audience, I would go with #3.  But I am with J&K on wanting to hear more about #2.
  • I think the first or second. I'd like to hear about both!

[QUOTE]ang, the other subject I love is oral rehydration for severe GI fluid loss ie. gastro or at the worst cholera. There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there.  That was one of my research subjects in my residency.

That would be interesting! BUT I have to come up with something I thing should be a food or nutrition policy that I would pass on to congress.

  • If I pick two, I will def give you guys the info I have found and my thoughts. I have to have research to back my thoughts because my topic would only be an opinion for right now... :)

I would rather hear about #2 but I think it would be easier to write #1. #3 sounds really interesting too but I think my opinion on it is skewed because of our health care system in Canada.

[QUOTE]I pick the first one! (My big paper this semester is going to be a review of calcium supplementation recommendations.  We should share papers/presentations when we're done!)

    We should!

  • I would pick 1 because it is interesting but not necessarily a land mine. I think 2 would be an awesome discussion/debate but maybe not the best for a discussion with limited time available.

  • Those all sound cool, but I'd especially love to hear more about 2. Kwhomp brings up a good point about time limitations, though. Can you lecture us on it anyway? :
  • If you do #2, I would be prepared for a fight  Or at least I would argue with you till the cows come home, lol.  Or mostly I would be standing there with my American flag and a sign saying "Keep the Gov't out of my fridge!!!!"
