WR Questions

Ok... now that I'm getting into real wedding planning mode, I have a few questions.

What are some things we need to remember the day-of? Is there anything you forgot?

Any fun pictures to add to the list?  We've got all of the (complicated) family portraits laid out, I think.  But I'm drawing a blank on the rest of the photo stuff.

Any other random things I'm forgetting to do?

Re: WR Questions

  • So basically... I have another two weeks until I reach "holy shiit wedding planning" mode?  Good to know :)

Are you guys going to do a first look photo?  Ben and I haven't decided if we are yet... I kinda want to see him privately before everyone else and have that moment between the two of us, but at the same time - it would be nice to be able to capture the moment.

  • AATB- Absolutely not to the first look.  Jeremy and I both agree that we want 'that moment' as I walk down the aisle.  Screw the day-of timeline, I don't want to see him beforehand.  I've heard pros/cons to each option.  I think it will be nice to split up the photos, too, to be honest.  Instead of 2 hours straight, it'll just be two 1-hour chunks of pictures.

P.S. Have you sent out your invites yet?!
  • Oh nice!  Haha kudos to you guys for doing that - Ben and I wouldn't be able to handle it.  We're both emotional crybabies so the wedding will be emotional enough with us having seen each other for pictures beforehand.

We are sending out our invites either this coming weekend or the beginning of next week.  I'm nervous.  I want them out already.  Yesterday we put them all together - except for the return envelopes and stuffing.  I need stamps.  Frick.  And he is still gathering some addresses of people!  It's ridiculous!

  • Are you ladies doing the not seeing eachother for 24 hours before the wedding thing? Jasmine, did you do that?

We're planning on having breakfast together the morning of, just the two of us..
  • Snacks and water for the day of. It might not be super relevant to you since your wedding is in the fall but we got SOOO warm in the church and the water bottles I made the bridesmaids carry in their tote bags were a godsend for all of us. Snacks, just something that travels well like granola bars or chips. H and I got really hungry between the ceremony and the reception. You're getting pulled in like a million directions at once on the wedding day and it's hard to even find a moment to eat a regular meal!

I don't have any input on must-take pictures, we basically just asked for the usual contingent of posed family photos (which we got) and other than that let them do their thing. I don't think we missed anything major. GL!! I'm sure your day will be great! :D

  • Cupcake, we've been living in sin since we were 17, so no we didn't spend the night apart. ;)   It was actually really nice to have some time together before the ceremony.

We did all of the pictures before the ceremony. But I wasn't too much into the whole sha-bang, so we weren't too worried about tradition.

  • We didn't do a first look. In fact we all went out to a bar after the RD and my sister and I went back to the hotel at 11:30 so we wouldn't see eachother until I was walking down the aisle. :) I seriously would not have done it any other way, though, there was a brief point the afternoon before the ceremony where all I wanted to do was see him because I was so nervous!

I walked into my reception venue because we were getting ready there and my coordinator asked "Did you bring the sparklers for the exit?" Uhhhh... no! I completely forgot. Thankfully they had a ton of extra rose petals for us so it didn't matter but don't forget those!

Just make sure to get a bag together way ahead of time with all of your essentials: shoes, makeup, veil, hairpieces, garters... I had everything put together (except those damn sparklers which I didn't even remember to ORDER because I was so flustered the few weeks leading up to the wedding). I knew as long as I had my bag the wedding could still happen!
  • Oh also - my favorite picture of the entire day is of my parents when they heard my BIL's speech (it was colorful to say the least) so if you have two photographers make sure one of them is shooting the crowd during vital moments. Two of my other favorite pictures are of my BMs watching us cut the cake and one is a picture of all my BM's reactions when I showed them my ring right after the ceremony. So special!

But here's my fave...  Gahhh that speech was awkward!!!

  • Thanks ladies :)

One more question... does anyone have a wedding program they wouldn't mind sharing with me?  For some reason this is causing me stress. (steph0871 at gmail)
