[QUOTE]@ NuggetBrain: I posted what I said from personal experience. I am not talking about the average idiot who boosts a car or sells a few ounces of weed. The slimeball who raped me as a child is currently in prison getting a free college education (while the rest of us average joes had to pay for it), access to the internet (we all know that it's a playground for sexual predators), and free healthcare (don't even get me started on that one). I bet he wouldn't last 5 minutes if they ever do let him out. I believe that when you commit heinous crimes, your right to anything above BASIC human necessity should be forfeited. Taxpayers should NOT have to be forced to support a comfortable lifestyle for people in PRISON!!! Then again...you may not understand. The screen name speaks for itself....

Pfft. F*ck off sweetie. You didn't clarify the difference when you went on your rant, so don't expect people to read your mind and don't get your panties in a bunch and start hair-flipping.

[QUOTE]I totally agree that this is beyond what is medically necessary. I've always thought that inmates have it WAY too good. Many of them have it better than if they were free. Not cool. This is not a medically necessary thing. I'm also on the fence on how I feel about inmates getting full free healthcare when it's costing the average family hundreds of dollars per month. I'm all for inmates getting the basic necessities of life, but I think it's crap that tax money has to cover most of it. They should have to work their asses off to generate prison income that helps sustain them.

[QUOTE]I agree that prisoners have way too many comforts. The fact that I have to pay for my kid's college education and also via my taxes to the college education of prisoners makes me ill. Why shold prisoners get a free education? If they want to get a degree while in there, great. Work for it or get a bill fro the state when they get out or something. In theory in CA I could rob a liquor store, serve my time, get a degree while I am in there, save over $800 a month by getting free healthecare and then get job placement assistance when I get out in about 14 months. Meanwhile my kid can't even get a free parking space after we paid a fortune for her first semester. WTF. Our priorities in America are so fuccckkkeeeddd up.

Except for the fact that people don't hire felons usually.

Seriously folks, I get it, and I agree this dude should not be having his wanker turned inside out on the taxpayer's dime but acting like prisons (prisons, not county jails) are a breeze and everyone is sipping mochachinos and tweeting about what's for dinner is just dumb.

Stop making sense. It's a lot easier to just want everyone in a prison to suffer horribly because that's justice, man.

Then we wonder why the f*ck we have one of the highest recidivism rates in the world.

• The money they make in jail working is tax payer funded. Now if your talking about finding ways for the prisons to generate some kind of profit off of producing a product or even farming etc then ok. But you have to be careful that this money is for inmate cost use only so it doesn't get abused and inmates are not turned into modern day slaves if you kwim.

• The sad part is the ACLU will never let it happen. Instead of inmates earning a wage and profits put towards things like education and healthcare, they will argue that inmates should keep all profits.

• I'm fine with prisons providing basic healthcare for inmates, and I think it's a good idea to give them education too. Anything to promote the chance that the ones who are paroled will be able to succeed outside of prison. But this guy? If he has outside funds to pay for ELECTIVE SURGERY, I have no problem with him using them. But to take taxpayers' money (that could be put instead towards getting 20 prisoners their GEDs) for him? Argh. No.

When similar suits have failed in California, you know this is a crazy leftist thing.

• I'm from MA and I personally think that reassignment surgery is elective; if a person tried to cut off their fat or kill themselves because they had self-esteem issues about their body shape, should we have to pay for inmates lipo or boob jobs?

I am not de-legitimizing gender identity issues, they are real, but if someone takes away the rights to others, I feel that their non-life-threatening-needs need to be put on the back burner.
They should feel uncomfortable in their skin. There are so many other places that the money should go to, like funding public education and therapy clinics for the poor, and inmate rehabilitation opportunities.

• Oh, and I think tough prisons should be self-sufficent farms where they need to care for and create all of their own food. If they don't want to cooperate, they starve. It'll be a bit like lord of the flies at first, but it would re-establish itself soon.

However, If he's been living as a she in an all-male prison, and the only way to get into a women's prison is to become a woman through surgery, then might as well do it. However, I honestly think they shouldn't have even provided him with the horomones,....unless they were testosterone. Sorry but you dont get to live comfortably after taking the life of another human being.
