The Flu?!?!

I has it :( Isn't it too early for this shiz? Some one give me hug? Remedies?

Does this mean I don't need to a get a flu shot this year?

In good news, we did have a sweeeet anniversary weekend and my pretty pink roses are sitting next to me right now keeping me happy :)

Re: The Flu?!?!

  • The flu changes between fall and winter flus, so you could still get it again.

    Yay for anniversaries.

  • M&M, nice of you to show your pretty (and flu stricken) face around these parts!

Sorry you're sick :( Yeah a few weeks ago for work we were doing news stories about how people need to start getting their shots again.  Tis the season - sorry you had to get it :(

But after you're feeling better I don't think you'll need a flu shot, since you will have already kicked it.

Yay for pretty flowers :) Now drink some echinacea and feel better!

  • Drink lots of fluids and watch lots of trashy television.

  • I do think you are right, Night :( boooo.... I was hoping for something along the lines of AATB's logic though.

I do miss you ladies, but with b-days and annys and now the flu I have barely been able to crawl to the computer for various reasons ;)
  • ::Hugs:: Hope you feel better. yay for anniversary flowers, though!

So far we have watched the Rangers/TB game, top chef AND before that it was season five of the office. I am not going to be ok if I don't get to see Jim and Pam get married and have to wait for season six to appear on Netflix instant queue. Yeahyeah I could buy it IF I could leave my house. boooo. Oh, yeah, Mike's sick too. I am such a nice wife and shared.
  • See, if I were me, which I am, I still wouldn't get the flu shot.  I've never gotten a flu shot.

But I have the immune system of a freak of nature.  I don't even remember the last time I had the flu.  Last year Ben had H1N1 and I never got it.  Feckin' everyone had the flu, and I was like hahahahahaaha, I don't have it.

Call your doc to make sure?

After this I bet I DO get the flu.

  • I did enjoy reading the newbie poll though. I love me a good newbie poll. muahaha
  • If flu = more knotting time, then you need to be sick more often.

    Or not.  Feel better soon!
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Yeah thankfully it is not the worst flu I have ever had. I am pretty sure I will be back to work by this weekend.

    AATB - I would tempt flu. Nope. no I sure wouldn't ;)

hehehe. I know right? Unfortunately my laptop is at work so sitting at the desktop = dizzy head. Forgive me if I stop making sense.
  • My home remedy for the flu is blue Gatorade and about six and a half hours of The Price Is Right. I laugh my but off at those little blue haired grannies with their Best Buy titty tags.

  • Hi, Meg!  Boo to the flu.  Emergen-C in double doses until you feel better.  And more knotting while you sit alongside your miniature giraffe.

  • Get thee to the Dr. for some Tamiflu. A staff member's son has it, and was given tamiflu last night. He'll be eligible to return to daycare tomorrow, which rocks. I'll be getting my flu shot this weekend, hopefully. Its a necessity on a college campus.

  • My mini giraffe is giving me kisssses!

Mehg, I LOVED that giraffe cartoon you had in the newbs thread by the way. It totally made me smile.
  • Happy (belated) Anniversary M&M!

The flu is sucky, I hope you get better quickly. Take some vitamins, drink lots of fluids, gargle with salt water.

Like AATB, I've never had a flu shot and I've gotten the flu once or twice in the last 10 years. The stomach flu is what I worry about. I've had that twice in the last 3 years and it's just a nightmare.

Aww thanks M&M, I'm glad you were able to see it! I can't take credit for it, I found it by clicking the Awesome button on Ally's Hyperbole And A Half blog. I'm also glad you were able to see it on a day that you needed perking up. :)

Side note: I love that you're another Meg who spells her name effed up like I do (thanks Mom).

ETA: my friend Amanda and I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom last weekend, and we took some hilarious giraffe pics (I'll post them once she sends them to me tonight). Have you ever seen a giraffe run? It's friggin' hilarious!

  • hahaha yeah, my whole life people have been like - "Oh is it MAYgan? Or Meeayagahan?" No. No. My parents just thought they were being super irish.
  • I have nothing helpful to say, except that it's going around here too.  I'm hoping I don't catch it before my flu shot next week.

    Feel better!
  • Booo for flu. They were offering shots at my school today and crazy co-worker started getting all righteous about how everyone HAS to have a flu shot or they will die, and the only people who don't get flu shots are the anti-vaccine morons and they should all be shot!

Yeah...no one who works in the library got the flu shot but her. My boss and I just don't do it and haven't had the flu *knock on wood* and both librarians got it (the shot) one year and had to be hospitalized for 3 weeks because of the reaction to the shot.
  • Sorry you have the flu, M&M! Hope you feel better soon!

  • Aw, I hope you feel better soon!  I've made it through 6 1/2 weeks of germy kids without getting sick, and this week I've started to feel something creeping up on me.  I'm chugging the OJ in hopes of keeping it away :-)

But yay for pretty pink roses!
  • Sorry you are sick-flu season is actually all year. I had the very worst flu of my life start on Labor day weekend about ten years ago. If I had been any sicker, I would have been in the hospital and I had/have NO pre-existing conditions. I was sick a total of about six weeks, with no bacterial infection.

Hope yours turns out to be low-drama and you feel better soon!

Glad you had a good anniversary!
