Snarky Brides

Grr I Have to Snark

I'm being snarky because I went to collect mail today and I found a pile of 6 invitations sitting on top all returned to me because it said Insufficient address. I'm pissed because they then black lined the 3rd line, which obviously bled onto the invites themselves inside. If they were decent and not lazy (but it's a government run facility so I shouldn't expect too much) workers, all they had to do was turn the envelope around and there's the return address. I want to go to my post office, yell at them and then have them refund me the cost of these 6 invitations, perhaps more if more keep coming back to me, all because they can't turn over an envelope.

End snarkiness

Re: Grr I Have to Snark

  • You should set all of those lazy people one fire. It's clear that they are trying to ruin your wedding on purpose by being lazy and using black markers.
  • How did they return it to you if they didn't know where the return address was? Sounds like there was a problem with the recipient addresses.
  • It sounds like you should have done normal addresses.

  • This is how USPS defines insufficient address:

Mail without number, street, box number, route number, or geographical section of city or city and state omitted and correct address not known.

  • The word snark deserves both fire and poop.

OP- going to the PO would be an enormous waste of time. I sincerely doubt you are going to find one person who gives a flying fluck. Besides, how much money could you actually be out?

  • This happens a LOT with wedding invites.  So... did you order extras?

  • It's because snark isn't a verb.  You are just a non-word judger.  Plorse!

  • I put my return address on the back and the few address bounces came back just fine. I doubt 'insufficient address" means yours. Like pp said they probably have a po or different address mailing address.

    This statement is awwwwweshome.

I know the board is called "Snarky Brides" but it doesn't mean we run around here saying things like "I have to snark!"  or "We're snarky!"  or "You're so SNARKY!?!?!??!"

  • Yeah, they put a black line through the insufficient address so it doesn't go through the auto sorter again. That's just how its done. Maybe double check the addresses.

  • When I read the word "snark" as a verb in this context, like "I have to snark." It sounds like something disgusting you literally have to do. Like when a snake sheds its skin, that should be called "snarking." This python has to snark.

  • I use the word snarky at work. Such as "Hey boss, does this email to a stupid teacher come off as too snarky?"  It makes my boss laugh which makes him not look like he's going to destroy someone. I defined it for him as "sarcastic but not to the point of being a biitch".
  • It happens.

Ok. So we agree. From now on, this is the proper definition of "snark"...

snark: v. to shed one's skin

See. That's disgusting. Let's not use that word.
