Snarky Brides

Warm and fuzzies

So lately I've been fed up with my job. I work with a few idiots who sort of taint the work experience. I work ridiculously long hours and often feel underappreciated. BUT I remembered today that I have an awesome job. I work for the American Cancer Society and I just now (at 10pm) got home from an event I was running. We held the event in our brand new Hope Lodge which is a place where out of town cancer patients and their families can stay for free when they are in town receiving treatment.

So there I am at ya know, 9:30pm walking through the Lodge and I go into the kitchen and there are a bunch of people watching TV and working on a halloween craft together. I went into the lounge and there's people working on a puzzle together and people playing Wii. People who were strangers and now are family supporting each other in their fight. What a wonderful place for patients to stay.

So I remembered why I work where I do and now I feel all warm and fuzzy and just wanted to share. To help you feel warm and fuzzy too here is an adorable baby.

  • Awww babies!

That is a nice story. It's amazing how people will come together =)
  • I used to volunteer (baking!) at the Hope Lodge in my hometown. I always loved the sense of community there.

Yay! That's awesome. I love when people come in and do dinners or bake or whatever - it's so fun.

  • Aww that is so wonderful! It's amazing how quickly people can go from being complete strangers to being very close friends. You're a lucky woman to get to be around that kind of strength and support!
  • I love jobs and volunteer work that make you feel so much better inside. In high school I went to Mexico three times to build houses and I loved it. I met so many amazing people there. They are so happy and kind and they have next to nothing. Sometimes a good heart is all you need to enjoy life.
