So i had a dream about you last night.

My H and your H were mad at us because we sold all our wedding gifts including our rings and the two of us were buying a boat and going to be the first Dakotans to sail around the world. We were sponsored by BWW who sent hundreds of wing care packages with us.  The boat was lime green and called the Snarky Sailor.

They'd have to be.  That's all I eat.  I'm an anti-mess wing eater.
  • Guyssss.  My friend just called me to cancel his RSVP for the wedding.

I'm upset.  Only because he's in a wheelchair and he never leaves his house (for three years now).  And he had said all along that he was going to come and he couldn't wait, and blah blah blah.

So he just called to say he can't make it, and I'm really sad about it, because it would have been really good for him if he decided to leave the house to come here.  I'm not surprised, I'm just....sad.

Well if there are LOTS of wings, I think I could share.  Key word though, is think.

My fave Bdubs sauces are honey barbecue and hot barbecue.  I also require a tall Miller Lite with olives; AKA midwestern martini.

ETA - April I'm sad for you :( That is a major bummer about your friend.  Is he kind of socially nervous or something?  Did he have anyone to go with?

  • That sounds like a dream that Ozzy Osbourne said he had when he was in a medically-induced coma.

I wish I had dreams of that caliber of crazy. Usually I dream about work or throwing things at Will.

Oh, and P.S. Will kneed me in the butt last night in his sleep. I yelled out "Jeezus!" and it didn't even wake him up. (I didn't think about what I said before I said it, and now I feel like a heathen.)

  • Has he always been in a chair, April?  I feel so sad for him now :(

anna, in college all I ever ate was the medium sauce.  And I had long island teas with them.  As a result I can no longer drink those teas.. and I can only have that medium sauce once in a while.

I also love their chips and salsa.  Or their queso dip.

I am totally craving me some Bdubs now.

Me too.  I keep hoping they'll hurry up and open the 2nd location here in town.  Any week now, and it'll be just down the street.  My H doesn't like to go to the existing one because it smells funny. (years of smoking, spilled drinks, etc.. i'm sure)
  • No, he was paralyzed in this freak accident about three years ago.  He's in serious depression and just lives with his parents and never leaves the house.  I'm not sure that anyone else wouldn't react the same way, but to me it just seems like dysfunctional grief.

I have a lot of opinions about what's been going on with him, but the truth is that it's ultimately his decision to leave the house or not, and unfortunately he has chosen not to.  His sister's wedding is in June, and it makes me wonder if he'll be going to that or not.

<div>Yeah, I definitely think he has major social anxiety as a result.  IT's just sad, because the only way to really get over that is to confront it.  And all of our friends are going to be there, and they all know him already, you know? It's just sad to me.</div>
  • Yay new Bdubs anna :) We have three in our area.  And they are all ALWAYS packed.  Yum-oh.

April I really hope your friend can pull himself out of that funk.  Is he in counseling at all?  It would probably do him really well.  I know a guy who became paralyzed at 18 - he's in his 40s now (I think) and his chair doesn't stop him from doing anything.  He's the manager of an area water board and he runs a mobile DJ service - he does school dances and weddings.  I mean your friend has definitely been through a lot but in no way does that mean he can't do anything anymore - although, I'm sure he's been told that more than just a few times.  It's almost cliche to even talk about - but he sounds like he's so discouraged and isn't coping well.

  • My brother's good friend is agoraphobic and it was so debilitating that he wound up missing their best friend's wedding a few years ago. It would get so bad that he wouldn't even be able to leave his bedroom, let alone his house. I feel bad because when he goes through his issues, I want to go there and help him, but that just makes him worse.

  • Ughhh this weekend was rough - I have a rash from under my boob to my bikini area, from my belly button over to my side (1/2 of my tummy area), including in my belly button. So Uncomfortable. I'm dopedup on Benadry and hoping to god it goes away soon. I've been using ice to try and not itch. POOOOP!.

My FAV Jodi Piccoult books where "The Pilot's Wife" and "The Pact". I keep hearing about this "Water for Elephants", so I may venture to the library and see what's up.

  • I don't think he's in counseling, and that's something that I want to bring up with his parents, but they've already given me the "we don't need your advice" speech several times.

I just don't think that they're helping him by enabling him to stay in the house all the time.
  • Ohmigoodness, this cheeseburger I'm having for lunch is so good.

Will and I BBQed last night and we had some leftover so I brought it in today for lunch. My CW's want to kill me because it smells really good in our office now haha.

  • They're definitely not helping him at all, April.  That's awful.  He went through a traumatic accident - which is sometimes reason enough to need counseling in some cases.  Poor guy can never walk again.  That's some heavy shiit right there.  I hope he can get some therapy - because it definitely sounds like he needs it.
