Poll: Kids

Unseen moments of Teen Mom and Tide's Post made me think of this.

What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?

Are any of the names family related?

How many kids do you want to have?

How far apart in age would you want them to be?

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?

Do you prefer boys or girls?

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?

1) Our first choices were - Boy: Tristan Shayne Girl: Taryn Eirene

2) My maternal grandmother's name was Irene. Taryn's middle name is the original greek spelling of the name, which means "godess of peace." Shayne has been passed as a middle name through the boys on DH's side for 4 generations.

3) 2 or 3.

4) Well, we we're planning on 17 months *cough*. Ideally 2 - 2 1/2 years apart.

5) We agree on names. As far as amount, I would be open to having a 3rd, maybe. DH is insistant that after the 2nd one, he's getting a vasectomy. His reasoning is that if we want to have a 3rd, he'll get it reversed, but "we have to want a 3rd bad enough that I'm willing to get my testicles operated on twice."

6) I'm torn. I want a boy, to have a "momma's boy," but I would love for Taryn to have a sister. DH wants a boy so that he can have some male companionship, as he was raised by his mom and 2 sisters. Having a wife and 2+ daughters may send him over the edge :)

7) I have severe eczema. Taryn's got eczema too, although I am hoping it's just baby eczema, and will go away in time. DH is severely ADD, which he says puts him at a greater chance of having a child on the autism spectrum, which is kind of scary.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?
DD's name is Annabelle Grace. FI & I would like to name our first child either Landen Robert or Carolina Rose.

Are any of the names family related?
Robert is his uncle's middle name. Carolina is my great aunt's name.

How many kids do you want to have?
3-5

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
No more than 3 yrs between each

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
A little. FI wants less than 5... I want more than three. I'm not a huge fan of the boy's name... but it's a family name for him.

Do you prefer boys or girls?
I love having a little girl... she's a riot. But after having one, I'm cool with either.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
I have really sensitive skin, and I sunburn insanely fast. Oh, and a wicked temper/attitude.

What names do you hate? Ridiculous spellings of normal names like Megan or Sarah

Are any of the names family related? We wouldn't give our kids a first name after a relative, but middle names are an option.

How many kids do you want to have? One but i reserve the right to get baby fever twice.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names? Yes, but who can agree with a man who wants Belladonna Took for their daughter's name?

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate? I like Sophie Bell or Lily Bell. Lily has been my favorite name forever but now it is just too popular! So now I'm hoping Sophie doesn't get super popular. For a boy I like Jackson but I don't know a middle name.

Are any of the names family related? Well I got Bell because of my good friend who passed away in 2008. We called her Tinkerbell because she looked like Tink. Sophie Tink just sounds weird but I like Sophie Bell.

How many kids do you want to have? 3 or 4

How far apart in age would you want them to be? maybe 2 ish years

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? He wants two kids but is not sure about that - he may want more. We'll have 2 and then I'm sort of hoping we'll both just know if we want another.

Do you prefer boys or girls? Girls when they're little and boys when they're teenagers. I'd like both!

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? I'm pale and prone to skin cancer - melanoma, the deadly kind. I really hope they don't get that.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate? I have gone back and forth with this. For girls I love Anna and Olivia. For Boys I really like Owen and Declan.

Are any of the names family related? None of the first names I mentioned are family related. But for middle names, Peter and James are.

How many kids do you want to have? I only want 2 to 3.

How far apart in age would you want them to be? No more than 3-4 years apart.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? FI jokes that since his family is so big, we would need to have at least 4 to fit in. He is one of 6. But I think that's a bit of a pipe dream. When he sees me go into labor the first time I'm sure his tune will change.

Do you prefer boys or girls? I don't have nay real preferance. I know I'll love my kids no matter what. But I guess if I could pick it would be boy, girl, boy. Who knows?

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? I would hope that they have my eyes most of all. Maybe it sounds narcisistic, but I think I have nice eyes. I hope they have FI's lips and skin and both of our sense of humor.
• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?

I like old fashioned names. I don't plan on kids, but I have always loved the name Olivia. I think naming boys is a lot harder than girls.

Are any of the names family related?

How many kids do you want to have?
None.

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
Hypthetically? 1-2 tops.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
Nope, we've been on the same page since day one.

Do you prefer boys or girls?
Girls, because they are what I know and I am disturbed by how boys are forced to be manly men. I think girls actually have more options of expression nowadays than boys. Boys seem to be forced into a box of 'correct' behavior for a boy, and it seems very narrow.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
Yup. My whole family has major mental issues including depression, autism, and a whole boat load of other gems. No one has bypassed it, which is why I will always be on the nature side of the nature vs. nuture debates. Damn genetics.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? Girl - Delaney Jo; Boy - Aiden Heath

What names do you hate? Francis is really the only name I can think of that I've always disliked. I'm not a fan of "made-up" names

Are any of the names family related? Jo is my mom's middle name and Heath is my brother's middle name but what he goes by

How many kids do you want to have? 2 max

How far apart in age would you want them to be? meh... I guess I'm a fan of larger age differences because that's how it was for me growing up. Plus I wouldn't want two toddlers running around at the same time. Guess I'm not allowed to have twins lol

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? Nope, we've talked about it and we are happy with two kids.

Do you prefer boys or girls? Boys - girls have so much drama lol. But I would love to see FI with a little girl =). Ugh all this talk is giving me baby fever! I'm 23! I'm not ready for a baby! lol

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? I've always had a complex with my weight/body image. And I don't know if it's genetic but eating disorders run in my family... my mom and aunt suffered from one and so have I in the past. Not anymore though, I've done my weight loss the right way and I hope to encourage my children in a way so they never have a complex. Also, before we have children, if we decide to have our own and not adopt, we would have genetic testing done because of FI's CF. We want to see if I have the recessive gene for it.

What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?
Boy- Hunter Hampton
Girl- Greyson Riley (or Sophia), Olivia Sloane
I don't like super common or super weird names.

Are any of the names family related?
Nope, neither of us like any of the family names. The only thing I like is his sisters maiden name "Foley" I think it'd be a good middle name.

How many kids do you want to have? 3 or 4

How far apart in age would you want them to be? 3 years apart

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? We like the same names but he says 2 kids (he jokes only 1 then he says no 2). We're having 3 though :P

Do you prefer boys or girls? I'm super girly so I look forward to dressing up some girls but I think little boys are so sweet.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? mmm...we both have had bad skin so we already discussed that our kids will be going to a derm at around 10 or so. We both had crooked teeth so braces will be happening.

What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?
I like old fashioned names and names that are not popular but not unheard of, kind of like my name. We both like Eleanor, and I like Amelia, June and Carys for girls. Rose is going to be the middle name. For boys I'm thinking Ryan James or possibly something odd and Biblical if J would allow (I love the name Ephraim for some reason but I know it won't fly!)
ETA: I forgot names I hate. I can't stand normal names spelled funky or with y substituted for every vowel. Its beyond obnoxious

Are any of the names family related?
Ryan James is a combo of our mothers maiden names

How many kids do you want to have?
REALLY leaning towards just one, but we shall see. No more than 2. I don't want to be out numbered!

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
more than 2 years, but at my age and if we do 2, I'm not sure how long I could wait

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
We agree that we prefer one and big MAYBE on two

Do you prefer boys or girls?
I'm honestly so paranoid I just want one healthy child. I always wanted a boy, but I just have a feeling that we'd have a girl. J would make a good girl dad, and we could teach her to be totally badass and independent. No princesses for us!
Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
I'm physically flawless and intellectually perfect. It's J I worry about. =) J/K I don't have anything major to worry about other than general health and not too fug

What would you like to name your first boy/girl?
Girl: Emma Elizabeth (my favorite Jane Austin charagters) or Ella Annick(my and FI's grandmother's first names)
Boy: Aiden Howard (I just liked Aiden, but Howard is my uncle who we were really close with)

What names do you hate?
anything too trendy/popular

Are any of the names family related?
see above

How many kids do you want to have?
Only 2, but with my luck, we'll have one first and then twins

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
2-4 years

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
We haven't discussed names too much as kids are a ways away

Do you prefer boys or girls?
Both

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
My uncle (Howard) had Down Syndrome and as much as I loved him, I still do not want to have a DS child. I really just hope for healthy children, all other things are just minor (ie needing braces, glasses, etc.)

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?
Boy: Daniel something - Middle name undecided but 7 years ago we both agreed we would have a son named Daniel due to our mutual crush on Daniel from the original Stargate series.
Girl: Farah Dale or Autumn Dale. I feel bad but I love Farah Dale - get it? It's either Faraday or Fairytale?

Are any of the names family related?
Dale is my Dad's name. DH also loves Autumn since my name is April. He figures he can get the best of all the seasons. Middle names will definitely be family-related.

How many kids do you want to have?
2 max

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
Whatever happend happens - I've had too much experience in my family to believe that planning actually works.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
Nope! I really enjoy the name games though. He gets so excited.

Do you prefer boys or girls?
One of each preferably - but I don't really want to know in advance. I'm always so excited when people don't know.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
Oh God - We're going to have to test for CF since it runs in my family. We're also scared that we will hatch a bubble baby due to our laundry list of environmental allergies. Otherwise we're good - I think our children will all look different, which is neat. DH and I have very opposing facial structures. (I'm blonde and olive skinned / he's dark and fair; I have an oval face with a "soft" bone structure / he has cheekbones and a jawline a russian would be jealous of... etc, etc). Granted, this could result in a trainwreck.
• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate? Calvin Zachary/Morgan Ainsley

Are any of the names family related? Zachary - you could play with my maiden name and kinda get to it. My dad used to go by Zack

How many kids do you want to have? 2

How far apart in age would you want them to be? 2-3 years

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? Our name styles are different, but we have middle ground. Calvin is a name he loved that I now really like. We agree on the number

Do you prefer boys or girls? I think I'd be more familiar with girls, but I'd be fine with either. I'd love one of each

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? My dad's side has big noses. I didn't get it, but I'd be worried I'm a carrier.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?

I love Amelia and Ian. Fi likes horrible names. We're pretty much in agreement that we like Audrey Mae and Autumn Elizabeth for girls and Wesley Maynard and Wyatt ___ for boys.

Are any of the names family related?

Mae is my middle name. I'm actually big on using family names for middle names, or something with meaning. Elizabeth is my grandma's first name and my other grandma's middle name. Maynard is FI's great-uncle's name.

How many kids do you want to have?

I'd like 1-2. Fi would like 2-3.

How far apart in age would you want them to be?

About 4 years. Three at minimum, 6 maximum, but by then we'll be kind of old, lol.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?

FI likes old hebrew names like Sarah and Ruth. He also likes Keziah, WTF. We've been trying to compromise. He's from a family of 3 kids, I'm from a family of 2 kids. So he wouldn't mind 3, especially if the first two are the same gender. However, we'd love to give our kids lots of opportunities, including a great education, so I worry about being able to afford more than 2.

Do you prefer boys or girls?

I do want at least one girl. I have more girls names in my reserve!

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?

Honestly, I'd like them to inherit green or blue eyes from O's family and not my brown eyes. It's shallow. My mom had green eyes and my eyes have a green tint at times, so I think it's possible. We don't have any horrible genetic illnesses or anything.

Girl - Rose, Lily, Emma, Carmella, Francesca, Shirley (middle name)
Boy - Timothy, Michael, Anthony, Dexter

Are any of the names family related?
Carmella, Shirley and Timothy

How many kids do you want to have?
I'd like 2, but I'd be very happy with one

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
Twins would be perfect (hopefully I'll be part of the 10% that has Clomid twins). I'd probably have to have one right after the other because I'm older. If fertility treatments take longer than a year, we'll just have one baby because I think I'd be too old after that.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
He likes the name Cory for a boy and I don't. That's the only thing we disagree on

Do you prefer boys or girls?
Either

How far apart in age would you want them to be? n/a

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? we agreed on amy. FI didn't like Noah at all, but we ended up having a girl.

Do you prefer boys or girls? girls. i was a major tomboy growing up so it's fun to get into all the girly stuff.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? physically - my really thin hair, which I think she's got. characteristically - my stubbornness.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl?My sons name is Brenden Lee, if he was a girl he would have been Emily Elizabeth. What names do you hate? Anything that sounds like the make of a car. I like unusual but some are getting absurd.

Are any of the names family related? Lee is my ex's fathers middle name.
And he carries my fathers last name.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? Other then my ex being allergoc to everything. But my son seems to have none of that.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl?
If the first one is a boy, we're going to name him after FI/FI's dad, so he'll be William as well. Since FI's dad is referred to as Bill, and FI is referred to as Will, I have a feeling we'll wind up calling him Billy (or something that effect. But NOT Willie, I hate that name).

If it's a girl, Alexandra Isabel. Both are family names. But, I also like Micaela (FI's sister's name). His sister is referred to as Mikka, so I figure if we name our kid after her, we'll refer to her as Kayla, so avoid confusion.

What names do you hate?
most of the names of the girls who were beyotches to me when I was growing up (Jessica, Britney/Brittany, Shannon, etc). No offense to the ladies here who have those names, they're just hard to pass on to my kids when all I'll be thinking about is those nasty girls in HS who called me anorexic.

Are any of the names family related?
Yup!

How many kids do you want to have?
I want 3, FI wants 8!! I figure we'll probably have 4 and call it good. He only has one sibling and I have four, so we'll see.

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
2 years each

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
I would like at least one of the kids to have a family name from my side of the family, but everyone in my family have country-ish names (my dad's name is Bart, my grandpa's name is Dewey, you know what I mean), and my married last name will be hispanic, so I don't foresee that going together real well.

Do you prefer boys or girls?
No preference, they both have their pros and cons.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
I'm afraid of passing on my family's history of mental illnesses (from both my mom and dad's sides of the family). My mom's mom was paranoid schizophrenic, and my dad and brother are both bipolar. Oh, and I'm afraid of our kids inheriting my family's crooked teeth (FI and his sister never had braces, but I did). Braces are a bitch and cost a ton of money.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?

I would name my first boy Shawn Patrick and my first girl Madison Leigh

Are any of the names family related? Patrick is my dad's name, he has 3 girls and said if he had a son his name would be Sean Patrick. I perfer the spelling Shawn for some reason even though I know Sean is the correct Irish spelling.

How many kids do you want to have? At least two, maybe 3

How far apart in age would you want them to be? At least 2 or 3 years, not 4 years, 5 is ok.

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children? She like Madison, the boys name is still up in the air, she doesn't like Leigh as a middle name for Madison though. She'd perfer 2 than 3 kids.

Do you prefer boys or girls? I'd like both

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)? Well we each want to have a baby, so with my baby that is my biological child I'd be worried about passing on my weight issues as it is genetic, you just need to look at my dad's side of the family to see I'm built just like his sisters as well as Alzeheimers as my g-ma has it. With my FI's biological child I'd be worried about increased risk for cancer as an adult b/c there's a lot in her family. But that's about it. I really WANT her baby to have her beautiful blue eyes :)

• kcull, forgive my silliness, but this just popped into my head?:
If you and your FI each had a biological child, and were inseminated on the same day, you could call your children twins and confuse people. I know, there are too many variable to control to make it likely that you'd deliver on the same day, but it would be cool.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl? What names do you hate?
For a girl, Molly Star. Boy - Preston Blu. I picked the first names, FI picked the middle names. I think they're pretty silly but as middle names I don't mind. FI paints and Blu was the name he painted under in the late 90s. Star he just likes, probably because he's kind of a hippie.

Are any of the names family related?
Preston is my brother's, dad's, and grandfather's name. My brother will probably not have kids so I want to keep the name alive.

How many kids do you want to have?
2, but if they are both boys then 3.

How far apart in age would you want them to be?
2-3 years

Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
No

Do you prefer boys or girls?
Girls. I can dress them in cuter outfits haha. I have a really close relationship with my mom so I'd like to have the same with a daughter. Plus I'm already out numbered since FI has a son.

Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
FI and I have both suffered from depression and I have HORRIBLE vision, like what would probably be considered legally blind...I can see about 4 inches in front of my face without glasses or contacts.

• What would you like to name your first boy/girl?
Since FI has been pushing the baby thing lately I decided I ought to post here:
Giacomo Augustino if its a boy. Genevieve Jean if its a girl.
What names do you hate?
I hate the name Erika (no offense to any of those out there)
Are any of the names family related?
Giacomo is. FI is one of many in his family.
How many kids do you want to have?
As of now, none, but FI really really wants to have at least two.
How far apart in age would you want them to be?
About 2 years
Do you and FI/H disagree on names/amount of children?
not names. Its a give in that if its a boy, he'll have FI's name, amount, yes, I want 0 and he wants 2.
Do you prefer boys or girls?
Boys, I dont think either of us would be a good parent to a girl
Do you have any traits that you worry about passing onto your children (physical/characteristically)?
FI and I are painfully stubborn. Soooo, fingers crossed our child is not as stubborn as us.
