Snarky Brides

Tuesday!!!

Wow...looks like I missed a lot of action last evening! And I thought this was the most drama-free, "boring" board if you will haha

Anyways....good luck with your interviews this week Sierra! How is everyone else doing?? FI is going to be gone all weekend so I'm trying to brainstorm some DIY wedding stuff I can try and knock out. I'm considering doing all flowers myself, so I might start there. Has anyone had any experience with that??

Re: Tuesday!!!

  • Good morning rel! Wow, flowers! You're brave!! I'm too much of a perfectionist, I would go crazy about making sure things were even and balanced. I'm probably going to end up DIYing my table numbers. I want something that looks like little wooden chalkboards, like old school 'slates'. But everything I find is too expensive. This is a very drama free board, but we don't take kindly to people coming over here just to complain about other women. At least introduce yourself before you start hating on my TK friends, you know?

  • Flowers definitely make me nervous...but I figured I have enough time to try and make a bouquet and see how it turns out. If not, off to the florist I go! The steps online seems really easy and I have some pictures saved of what I would like so hopefully the craft stores have a good selection of silk flowers!

I know what you mean about the chalkboards! I want to get a big one made at least for our menu items. Have you considered chalkboard paint?? It is amazing and pretty cheap. You could paint it right on wood, plastic, anything really for your table numbers.

  • That's my plan now. I'm just trying to find frames that have a really simple profile, that aren't too expensive!

  • Hi!

I'm hanging out, waiting for animal control to open so I can call about a dog. She's been barking, crying, and howling since about 8:30 this morning. I'm worried she's tangled in her chain, but can't just waltz into my neighbors' backyard to help their dog when they won't.

Angel, when it warms up you could check yard sales. They always have cheap frames.

Rel, I did everything myself except the bouquets. My parents offered me a certain amount for a dress, and I didn't spend it all, so they suggested I get real flowers to carry with the rest.

Angel, I did my own table numbers with wooden letters and rhinestones. I like the chalboards idea. Rel, good luck with that!  You certainly ARE brave; even my florist told me she didn't dare try to do her own flowers!  Haha!  Bunni, awww...poor doggie. My neighbor's dog was making crazy noises a few weeks ago and I got worried, so I peeked in. Turns out they were just playing with her and she makes weird sounds. Yours probably is in distress, though, if it's been going on and on.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I had to call animal control back in January, I found a little tiny owl on the side of the road and it was super cold out. He couldn't fly, so I put him in a dog crate. They told me to let nature take its course, I almost lost my mind on them! I ended up calling a few vet's offices and we found someone to take care of him, he's now at a wildlife rehab facility.

  • Good morning. I finally woke up early enough to watch Judge Judy!! Last night was so entertaining!! Apparently, we live in the midwest and our husbands dont keep us entertained. Hahaha.

Rel, I think I am going to be doing our own flowers as well.
Bunni, that is so sad about the dog. I hope someone comes to its rescue soon. The people across the street from me have a small yippy dog...yorkie or shitzu or something. It constantly barks! I have already called animal control on them once. The dog just sits outside by the door barking to get in. Its awful.

I have decided that I need to get some spring cleaning done, and now that I am unemployed it seems like the perfect time. I figure that since today is only Tuesday, if I start and do 1 room a day (the bathroom and the laundry room will be on the same day), I can be finished with the entire house by the time the weekend comes around. I found this awesome spring cleaning list when I did a google search and it seems pretty easy. I havent decided if I want to do the bedroom today (go thru all of our clothes and get rid of everything we havent worn in forever) or if I want to do the kitchen today. But, eventually I will figure it out. I have all day!

  • Spring cleaning sounds good Sierra! I finish school the second week in April and have a couple of weeks off before the spring semester starts. My plans for those 2 weeks: get hammered with my MOH and go to a country bar and deep clean the house!

It's still Tuesday, so I'll hop in.

I did my flowers for my first wedding, and will do them this summer. I did silk the last time, and some family members still have my centerpieces displayed in their homes. This time I'm going to do a mixture of silk and real; I'd do all real, but I know my mom would never wear a real corsage - she may not come to the wedding at all, since it's outside... She's jumped out of moving vehicles to avoid bugs.

Drama festival begins tomorrow. I'm so ready for this to happen. The kids are ready, the play is great, and I just want my time back! We've been rehearsing every day after school, most lunchtimes and Sunday mornings at 8am. I love doing it, and it's keeping me sane this year, but man - I need a break!
