How many favors to get?

We are doing two kinds of favors, both edible. One is sweet (Peruvian cookies) and one is salty (mixed nuts). They will be individually wrapped so guests can take them to go, or eat them on the spot if they wish.

Should I have one of EACH per guest, or one of them combined per guest, or do you think I need more/less than that? We are not setting them at their place settings, but instead plan to set them out later in the reception (about 90 mins before the last dance) as a late night snack kind of thing.

  • I would have one each per guest I think if not it might be confusing if it is one per guest or per couple.  We are doing one per guest, but ours are little boxes of M&M's. At least they are edible so if only half of them get taken you'll have snacks for the honeymoon!

Ditto Michelle.  i think Edible favors should definitely be one per guest.  Or like you said combine them...individually wrap each and then place them in a bigger bag? This could vut down on ribbon.

  • Anything edible should be one per guest.

  • Hmm I was thinking that there may be a lot of guests that don't like nuts so I should get less of those. They are super cheap, so I'm not worried about the cost, I just don't want to have way too many if lots of ppl don't take them.

  • Yeah I would do one of each. If people don't take them you'll just have extra to snack on yourself. Plus with them on a table some people may take two, especially if they notice they aren't being taken. In fact, if when you go to leave you notice there are a lot of one thing, tell the guests they can take another one!

This happened at my friend's reception. Her nickname is Skittles - and so she had cutely wrapped skittles as a favor. At the end of the night, extras were still sitting on the tables - so she just told people to take extra..and people did.

This is what my family does when there is extra leftover at any celebration...just take the extra home! ha ha
  • Will the other favor be nut-free? I'd assume you'll have several people refusing to eat nuts.

But I agree- edible favors- one per person. I'd be excited to grab more if others don't want it anyway!

  • hmmmm. I like Nancy's idea, but like mekiakoo said, there are people with nut allergies and people who just don't eat nuts, so combining them might be a bad idea.

Are you going to have the favors at their place settings, or just sitting somewhere for people to take?
  • duh. I am an idiot. you just said that. I think one per guest is totally fine. some people won't take any but some people will be greedy and take more than one (my fiance always gets hungry and just noshes on things without realizing that he maybe shouldn't take so many) but I think it will all balance out. Maybe order a few extras to be on the safe side but one/guest should be fine.
