Snarky Brides

Let's talk

What shall we talk about?

*I dvr'd most of the debate to watch after I do some research.  I realized that I couldn't tell if either candidate was telling the truth because I evidentially haven't kept up on the details of the various issues as well as I thought I had.  *sigh*  What did you think of the debates?

*Food?  My H and I are doing a sugar fast next week (plus wheat because I'm GF) because we just get into this cycle where we progressively eat more and more sugar each week.  I've been drinking juice like it's water and he's been hitting the soda again.  Stupid, addictive, delicious, sugar.  the biggest pain is that when we sugar fast is that I feel like our meals and snacks are so boring.  What's your favorite sugar-free snack?

*Tv shows?  Any new series this season that I should check out?  I'm pumped for Walking Dead to return, happy with Once Upon a Time, and wouldn't mind another new show.

*Any other topic?

Re: Let's talk

  • I don't like rosemary in my chicken noodle soup.  I like just a simple salt, pepper, and celery seed based broth.  SO good.

I stopped watching SVU a few years ago.  I don't know why.  I just stopped loving it so much. i should check it out again.
  • Our cable hasn't been hooked up yet, so I'll take food for 200.

I'm more of a salty gal, so popcorn is my favorite snack. But, my favorite healthy snack would be bell peppers or apple slices. We also always keep grapes in the house, since they are easier to deal with than a lot of fruits or veggies.

  • Hello ladies!

As for the debates, I watched part of it then had to go to bed. Anna, if you want clear concise information, without a biased view hit up my husband, he will gladly point you to any facts you need. And I thought Romney ruled last night.

Today is National taco day, H wanted to go to Luchita's today because they will donate 30% of your bill to a cat rescue, but its only the downtown location, not the one near us. :(

My yoga instructor will be over to kick my butt tomorrow night, it's been awhile, but I need it.

<div>ooh!  I didn't think about bell peppers.  That's definitely going on my snack list.  I'm a HUGE grape fan but unfortunately they're off the menu during the sugar fast too. Darn natural sugar.  They're great frozen.</div>
  • I listened to half of the debate on the radio on my way home last night. I thought Obama was doing a really good job, until I turned on the tv. It was a weird phenomenon. The mediator drove me nuts.

Also, this is the first election I've payed this much attention to, and like you anna, I thought I knew more about the issues than I apparently do.

Grapes frozen sound yum. I'm going to have to try that. Smashed bannana "ice cream" is delish too! Do goldfish count as a sugar free snack? Because I could eat the hell out of some goldfish.

<div>They're not really that bad for you.  I think a 50 fish serving is like 150 cals.  Goldfish are so good.   When my niece was a baby, it was her favorite snack so we always huge Sam's Club size cartons in the house.  I dominated them.  Sadly, I can no longer eat them because of an intolerance to wheat.  Bah!</div><div>
</div><div>You should totally try the frozen grapes though.  Someone on here suggested them to me a few years ago and now I'm hooked.</div>
  • KD:  I might hit up your husband for some debate info in a few days after I've processed all the info and actually watched the debate with a little more education under my belt.

<div>string cheese, homemade beef jerky, nuts in moderation, sugarfree jello.. for snacks

lean meats with seasonings and non-sweet marinades, rices, potatoes, beans, green veggies, for dinners.</div><div>
</div><div>All pretty boring.  Luckily the fast doesn't last long and I'll be back to eating all my fruits after 10 days.  just hopefully in moderation again.</div>
  • Me too Jcb!  I love my salty foods.  Fortunately, bacon IS allowed during this little diet fix.

[QUOTE]H and I watched the debate last night.  Obama just seemed.off.  He was stammering 'uh, uh' all over the place.  I thought Romney did a better job.  I also like how he pointed out some of Obama's failures without being a complete jerk. I could give up sugar way easier than giving up salt.  I'm definitely more of a salty snack girl. My H hates the L&O shows so I pretty much stopped watching them b/c of him.  I'll catch re-runs here and there when he isn't around. Our new show is going to be Modern Family.  I got sick of hearing about it and got the first disc from Netflix.  It's actually pretty good. <strong> Premiere is this coming Wednesday.</strong> We also still watch Survivor.

That was last week JCB. And it was fantastic, I love that show.

I'm watching Major Crimes, since The Closer is over. Dexter, TWD, L&A SVU, CSI Vegas, Blue Bloods, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, SOA, Fringe (although we need to catch up), we started recording last seasons Homeland to start this seasons, since it did great at the Emmy's. Justified, usually starts in January, Burn Notice comes back in November. I could go on, we are TV hoes.

  • Hi!
My favorite snack lately is popcorn - air popped, not microwave.  I make a gallon ziplock bag and take it to work.  I also love raw veggies + ranch, and string cheese.  Well, any kind of cheese.  I can skip the sweets easily; more of a salty snack girl too.

I want to try these baked zucchini chips:  http://vittlesandbits.blogspot.com/2012/03/baked-zucchini-chips.html but I don't think they keep well, and I don't want to eat the whole batch in one sitting.

We started watching Breaking Bad this week.  Still in the first season, but man that's a good show.  I'm hoping to finish the season this weekend.

I watched the debates last night.  I still don't really like either of them, but for different reasons.

I'm kinda tired and wrung out and have a little headache tonight.  Blergh.
