Dexter Fans?

The Mad Men post got me thinking of how many friends I've gotten sucked into Dexter! If you don't watch it, Netflix it... it's amazing... and Lithgow in the last season is insanely creepy. I will never look at him the same way again!

Re: Dexter Fans?

  • I am OBSESSED with Dexter - but I don't get Showtime and have only seen up to the season finale of season three.  My future sister-in-law spilled the beans about what happened in season four and I was kinda pissed, but meh, I'll get over it and watch season four when it's out.

But yeah.  LOVE me some Dexter!  I think he's hot... in a really bloody, twisted way :)

  • I love Dexter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But watching Six Feet Under after starting Dexter made it really hard for me to look at him the same way...

  • I've not seen Six Feet Under yet, but it's on my fi's list of shows I must watch. He was right about me loving the other shows he thought were essential I know about (Arrested Development, BSG, Nip/Tuck). :)
  • Love Dexter.  I can't wait for the new season.

  • Favorite murderer plot line?

My favorite is still season one and the ice truck killer.  I remember being like WHAT THE EFF when it turned out that guy was Dexter's brother.

  • Mine was John Lithgow.

  • Yes love it. My favorite plot was last season's.

  • Dexter is the poo.

I read an article the other day about the upcoming season and it sounds like it's going to be really good.

  • I hope he's doing ok with his treatments. I was really surprised when I found out the actress who plays his sister on the show is his wife in real life. Pretty cool- though the other way around would really not work so well.

Ice Truck Killer was my fave, too. Although Lithgow was pure genius!!
  • I'm a fan as well. We don't get Showtime so FI has to download them to the TiVO. In this next season, we will probably be several weeks behind.

I am currently reading the book series. It is different enough to be entertaining, especially now that I have a face to put on the characters.

  • I got really into it a couple of years ago, but I couldn't handle the references to what happened to him when he was a kid. If I'm remembering correctly, he was about 3 when it happened and at the time, Ben was three two. Everytime I watched it, all I could think about was "what if that happened to Ben". Yep. I'm a puss.
  • I don't blame you CEW. The whole show is disturbing, that part especially. When they showed his entire flashback of what happened, I was in tears. I seriously wonder about the guy whose mind came up with that.

I think the reason they reference it so much, though, is to show the reason why he is the way he is. It helps them develop the whole paradox that makes you fall in love with a serial killer.

  • I love the show, I just could never shake those images. And now, I don't have showtime, so I can't watch it anyway.

  • Yes, those scenes are particularly disturbing, but good backstory. I was a psych major for a while and criminal psychology was the most fascinating to me. We went to a prison and interviewed death row-inmates, the whole deal... it's incredibly fascinating and also horrifying to me.
  • They ran it on regular Tv the first season, and got me hooked. Then they took it off and I didnt have Showtime. Soooooo, I Netflixed the first season to get my DH to follow too.

So now we're waiting on Season #2

  • I JUST started watching it, FI suggested it. I'm 2 episodes in so far, lol, but I'm really liking it.

  • I love it! I'm throwing a Dexter party in August when season four comes out. You guys can come.

  • I Don't think my DH is digging it as much as I do, he doesn't like shows that are this "dark". Well that's what he said at first, now that we are through season 1, I think he likes it.

Oh, if he thought season 1 was dark... it gets MUCH darker. But also better. But yeah, dark dark DARK.
  • My H and I are huge Dexter fans.  He got into it while he was in Iraq and got me hooked when he came back and "made" me watch the first two seasons.  I wasn't interested in watching it at first but now I am hooked!  We just got Showtime too and hopefully he will be done with all his field time when the new season starts September 26th!
  • They just premiered the season 5 trailer at comic con, it's crazy!  I was so stunned by last year's finale, I was hoping it was all a dream or something. By the looks of the trailer for season 5, I guess not! Can't wait :)

The trailer is also on the Dexter FB page:

  • Ooh! I hadn't seen that yet! TY!! Forwarding to my FI now!
