Re: Happy Monday

  • We had an unseasonably warm weekend so we went biking on sat and to the park on Sunday. I read the Da Vinci code this weekend.

  • Brittany - YAY so exciting!

I did the Maria von Trapp twirl into work today. I am loving 80 degrees in December.

H decided this weekend that we need to throw a Christmas party.... so that's what I'll be doing all week. Silly boys. They have no idea.

    Brittany, that's so exciting!

H and I nearly finished Christmas shopping for our families this weekend.  We still have to shop for my dad and I need to get H a few more things.  Speaking of which, we should do a "What are you getting your H for Christmas?" thread.  Or just share in here, either way lol.  I'm running out of ideas of what to get him.

Other than shopping, I watched the BCS bowl game results and I've pretty much decided that the BCS is a joke.  I'm looking forward to when they switch to a playoff system in 2014.

I am getting H running shoes. The 'problem' is that I found them on super sale since they designed a new version. So now I'm about $40 under our spending limit and I have to find something else!
I was going to get him a new wallet, but when I was out yesterday he discovered the wonder that is Burlington Coat Factory and bought himself a new one. Isn't there some sort of rule about buying yourself stuff during December???

I think that is very much a rule.

I did make some awesome broccoli cheddar soup.
    But that is all.

  • I'm getting H- a blue ray DVD player with wifi for netflix, I got him an ornament(it's a tradition to get each other ornaments), I got him a battery extender for his iphone, and i'm still WAY under the spending limit so i'm at a loss, and the pups got him the game of life board game!

We were thinking about getting rollerblades-which would be coolio! I love rollerblading :)

it's very exciting to think in 7 very short months I will have a brand new house! *sigh*

  • Royal Baby!!! Why am I so excited????!!??
  • Morning Ladies!

I've had a mixed bag of a weekend. I got most the house cleaned Saturday, and H and I went to see Lincoln, which was fabulous! Yesterday, we got some more shopping done as well as our decorations put up. But interspersed was the dog crapping on the floor after he'd been out several times. As well as this morning H took him out, he did nothing, came back in and peed on the floor. I dont know whats wrong with him, but he better get over it!

Swag-In our house there is a rule. Unless it's something H knows I cant afford to buy him, he's not allowed to buy anything for himself, effective after Thanksgiving.

  • Why are my posts disappearing? (Or am I only dreaming I've been posting ...)

Yes, there should be a rule about not buying things in December. FI is good about it, so it's not an issue for us. I'm getting him a SPOT (online tracking system for when he's snowmobiling out of cell range - which is pretty much everywhere.) It can send messages to let me know if he's stuck and running late, if he's hurt and needs help, or if he's just hanging out. Last winter he got stuck more than once and when he's riding alone it's not a good idea to not have any way to get in contact with someone.

He's also getting a sound bar for the tv, a sweater, and some odds and ends. I was also thinking table saw, but his sister might be getting him that.

I've got a few more odds and ends to get, but I'm mostly done shopping. Just have to book DS's flight up here and decide whether or not to have a holiday party.

first year ever that I've felt remotely festive.

  • Happy Monday!

Britany - that's great! I'll say in advance, congrats on the house!

I follow the December rule of not buying anything for myself. I have to save almost every penny to afford Christmas presents without feeling too much in debt when January rolls around.

I finally figured out everything I'm getting H and will purchase the rest of his gifts when my Amazon gift cards get here. I use my credit card rewards points for them every year around Christmas time since I get a better rate with them than I do with my cashback points. It almost feels like free money when they come in.

This weekend H and I just vegged out and did basically nothing. He hasn't been feeling well so we just relaxed, stayed in and binged watched the sci-fi series Firefly that H downloaded, watched a couple movies and ate junk food. I wish we didn't have to wait for the times when either of us feel sick to have those types weekends.

<div>We're enjoying it. We saw the movie Serenity a few years ago and liked it so now it's neat to see where it all started. I know I'll be disappointed it's only one season long though. But we'll cap it all off by watching Serenity again once we finish the series. </div>
