Snarky Brides

help me... help me help me...

Sorry, deleted this...

Seems the answer is pretty unanimous even though I dont like it :(

Re: help me... help me help me...

  • Start looking for a new job ASAP.

I'm not sure what options you have if you work and end up not getting paid. Hope it doesn't come down to that!  What a sad, uneasy place to be in... I'm sorry!
  • Your dear sweet husband is right, Nebb. You need to start looking for other work. Think about it. Even if they get out of this mess, do you really want to ever have to deal with this kind of stress and uncertainty again?

  • I would get on the job search ASAP.  It might take you as long as it will take for them to let you know you will get an IOU or let go to get a job.......

    This is not fun!!
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

  • Polish up your resume, and send it to temp companies first, then start looking. That's a really tough situation, if the company is broke and the parent company isn't providing payroll funds.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • I totally agree with your hubs. I can understand not wanting to do that, but in this economy you can't be expected to keep doing what is essentially volunteer work. Especially if you don't know if you ever will get paid for it. Here's hoping that the universe is nice to you, and things work out for the better -and soon.

    *hugs*

  • Nebb- I don't think it's fair to say the last 4 months will mean nothing on your resume.  At least in this economy, future employers will be more sympathetic to you being let go for company error, you know?

in the past 2 years ive spent 9 months at a job before quitting because my hours were cut, where I went to another job where I worked for 6 months before getting laid off, then was unemployed for 5 months until I got this job that lasted for 4 months. That wont look good.
  • Nebb - I don't have anything to add that PPs haven't already said (though, I do agree with them). I just wanted to say I'm sorry about your situation and I truly hope things start getting better for you soon.

  • It might not be as bad as you think. Maybe the 'gossiper' is being overly dramatic. That still doesn't change the fact that I would start looking around for other work. Things may calm down and you may find that it was all a bunch of drama over nothing, but at least you will be prepared if something bad does happen.

<div>boo. That sucks, I'm sorry.  I still think you'll get more understand because of "the economy."  Do you think you could still get a good letter of recommendation if your current company does go under?</div>

The four months you've rocked on this job will mean something if the business folds. That's a thoroughly defensible position in an interview. I'm with everyone else, start looking now. However, make sure that if you are asked for permission for the prospective to call your current employer, that you indicate that your current employer doesn't know you're looking. They'll ask why you're looking and you can let them know that you were quietly told to begin a job hunt, but that you don't want to make waves.

ETA: just saw the repetitive short term jobs comment. It's ok, with this economy, the fact you've been gainfully employed is still going to help you.

Im pretty sure I will get a stellar letter, if my boss could ever get around to it. I cant really ask for it yet, or i would feel bad.

An aside from my personal drama, I want to share this because it just made me laugh even though im miserable - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMtZfW2z9dw&feature=player_embedded (its even funnier if youve seen the original)
  • I don't have anything to add beside what pp's have said already. I do want to wish you luck in the job hunt as well as your situation with your current job.
  • Nebb- that was even better than the original. FI and I laughed and quoted that guy for about a week after we first saw it.

No cew, its eerybody. Its a silent V.
  • Nebb, I seriously would start with temp jobs. And those three jobs? Only one did you leave for reasons of your choosing. No one will look at a layoff negatively, and that's what in essence will end up happening here. The first one you talked about, you weren't getting enough hours, and I would think an employer could understand that.

It's not like you said, "eh, I don't want to chop lettuce for salads, even though this is the corporate policy of progression, so I won't show up for day 2." (true story).

My brother was employed by Circuit City for 12 years when they closed their doors. I understand your frustration.

  • Aw Nebb, I'm guessing the job is not looking solid?

I don't know if this is an option, but is there a way to inform potential future employers about the job situation? I know the applications for everywhere I've worked had "Company, position, reason for leaving" If I saw someone who was laid off, company shut down, etc I would think "Omg you poor soul" and give them an interview.
