Candy Stations

Has anyone here ever done a candy station as their wedding favors?  If so, how much candy did you buy?  Some websites suggested 1 lb per person, and others say 1/2 lb.  I would rather have people tell me what they bought based on experience and provide me with suggestions.  Thanks!

  • 1 lb per person seems like a shitton of candy to me.

  • I didn't do candy stations, but I did buy World's Finest Chocolate bars as my favors, and I got 4 cases (200 bars) and only like 90 people came, so I have a TON of them leftover. Since they are kinda hard to get, I have been using them like prison currency with friends and stuff. For example, I am giving my friend 5 chocolate bars for an Astros ticket on Sunday.

I feel like candy stations or buffets are so 2007-2008. So tired.

Yeah me too.  I was thinking 1/2 lb would be plenty.  I have been to weddings where there were candy stations and people either fille their bags to the top or only take a little bit, so 1/2 lbs seems average.  I was just wondering if anyone else has done one before and how much they bought for it.

  • Ok, just making sure.

To answer your question, even a 1/2 pound per person is probably way too much, but you might want to buy that much anyway just so your candy table looks full.  What we did was we picked our bags first.  The bags had a weight on them.  We multiplied that by the number of guests we were expecting.  And then we had now much candy we needed.

I would say only 1/3 of it got eaten.  But if we had bought less candy, the table would have looked really bare.  Luckily candy is cheap, so whatever doesn't get eaten, give it away and forget about it.

I don't care about candy being left over because I can always bring it to work and share the rest with people in my office.  My fear is not having enough.  How much did you end up buying per person after you weighed the bags?

  • 1/2 lb per person still seems like a whole lot.  That would be like 100 lbs of candy for me.  That's too much.

  • Hmm.  At this point I really don't remember.  Probably a half pound, like you said.
  • I'm telling you, get the good stuff so you can use it like prison currency. I am paying for goods and services in CHOCOLATE.

  • I'll trade you some candy for some of my prison wine in this sock here.
  • Zip- For two bars, I'll give you a sweet prison tat.  Deal?

OP-The wedding planning, reception boards or DIY may have more info on how much candy too.  Just make sure to look through the older posts before posting a new question so no one freaks out.  HTH

Oddly, I think this is my first vendor banning.
