anyone here use WW???

I am SO upset. I have been a member since college and I have stored COUNTLESS recipes on there with the points and now this new system they started has ruined all of it! I have NO idea how to convert it all. Its a mess :( I feel like leaving WW so as not to deal with the hassle. Why did they change the system?!? I hate change!

Re: anyone here use WW???

  • I recently restarted WW, but I am doing it on my own and not with the online tools.  I'm still using FlexPoints because that's what I'm comfortable with, and what was effective for me the first time around.  So, basically, I'm no help.  Sorry.  :(

  • It's a pain to change everything, but I do think the new system will be better and more effective, not to mention healthier overall.

You don't need to go and change everything all at once.  Just change them as you use them.  It'll be ok once you get used to it again.

  • J&K.. I cant even figure out how to change them :( I just emailed their help people :(

I'm such a bad WWer that I had to go log in to see what y'll are talking about.

I'm withholding judgement right now.  I wan't doing fabulously on WW, so maybe a change will help me get back into tracking and making healthier choices.

I have a lot more PointsPlus points that I had Points, so that makes me wonder how the other point values have changed.  I need to explore.

ETA: just on first glance, I like that they're considering fats, carbs and protein as well as fiber, instead of just calories fat and fiber.
  • When you first log on it should just give you a clicky to add in the new info you need.  Otherwise, if it's saved in your plan manager, it'll show a little red exclamation point on it.  You just need to click on it and add the new info.

If it's all recipes with normal things that are in their database (like chicken, tomato sauce, etc), it should automatically change the points values for you.

Some have gone up, some have gone down.  Fruits now all have 0 points.  Some stayed the same.

  • pirate- put it this way... my 9 point lunch (high to begin with) is now 13. I was shocked but then again I have more points? I don't know why this is so upsetting to me. I think I just have too much happening right now to readjust.

  • I got almost 50% more points than I had before, and most of the foods I eat regularly didn't go up by 50%, so I feel like I have significantly more points every day.  But that's just me.

  • So far I like the change. Hello 0 point fruits!!  I haven't gotten the hang of it yet, but I'm hoping it takes me to goal/maintenance, which is 10 lbs away.

The last two days I have been under my target points, which, trust me, is rare.  A lot of the points values have gone up, others have gone down.  And they are finally recognizing that 100 cal of a healthy grain is better points-wise than 100 cal of chips.

Values for activity points have changed as well, but I don't trust the new calculations since they are based on how much effort you exert.

Star, in my on-line tracker most of the recipes updated, except for the food items I manually inserted.

I got a little less than 30% more points than I had before.

I know it's part of the proprietary nature of WW, but I always automatically try to start calculating the relationships and values they use when figuring out 'points'.  It drives my math brain batty.  I think it's part of why I'm not very good at it, I always end up trying to figure out why the points are the way they are.
  • Why does red wine have a higher point value than white wine?  Wink (you can see where my priorites lie, huh)

There's a formula on Wikipedia for at least the old method.

And Aplant, I agree that I'm glad they're finally recognizing some foods with the same amounts of calories are better nutritionally than others.

  • I really wish there was a way to calculate activity points based on actual calorie burn.  I use a heart rate monitor when I work out so I have a pretty good idea of how many calories I burned, and I'd like to be able to put that in and have it give me a points value.

On the old system at least, 100 cal = 1 AP. So 300 cals = 3 APs.  I used my HRM too and likely will never go back to guess. I was *way* overestimating before I got the HRM.

Supposedly on the new plan, 80 = 1 AP, but I don't think that's been officially rolled out yet.  I'll stick with the old way, since it will only limit the actuals APs I eat.

I ended up emailing them to see if there is a way to calculate/input it like that.  AKA, I told them they should have a way.    I love my HRM, love love love it so much.

A HRM is so much more accurate than just guessing.  It's the same concept as a food scale and measuring cups.  It's silly not to allow calories burned input.
  • With respect to the formula, the old one was patented so it was public information on the Patent and Trademark Office website.  If the new one is patented, it should be on the website too.  I'm too lazy to check.

I think this is one of the reasons Coke doesn't patent the chemical formula for Coke.  They don't want it in the public domain.

I lurve mine too. It's amazing how my laziness goes away when I see I can get an extra AP in.

  • I am an IDIOT! It did auto change my recipes. It was just one recipe that it was asking me to "convert" which was weird.
