Re: Piercings

  • I had a belly button ring when I was 19, but I ripped it out with a pair of button-fly Levis. God bless the 90s! LMAO!

Is your belly button disfigured now, Bec?

  • I thought they only let you get tubal ligations after 3 kids?  They allowed one after the girls?

  • I've never heard of restrictions for tubals. Almost everyone I know with two kids had one. I got mine at age 27, which my doctor did comment on, but never once said he wouldn't do it. The number of kids I had was never an issue. I can't imagine some guy going in for a vasectomy and being told he can't have one unless he has three kids. WTF double standard!

My doctor did schedule my surgery between two hystorectomies (sp?), so I got scared and wrote "Tubal only please!" in permanent marker on my abdomen. I woke up and there was a big check box beside it, and he checked it off in recovery. :)

Local hospital here amputated the wrong foot on a guy and the wrong foot had somehting written on it but they cut it off anyway.  Glad to hear you were ok.

  • Oh HELL NO, Betrothed. You're own surgeon? Before my second foot surgery (first was the same operation on both feet, second was the same operation on both feet again but with additional work in the right ankle) when I was laying on the table in the operating room, they did all kinds of confirmation of which ankle was to have the bone chip taken out before they even gave me the anesthesia. I got to watch them draw the dots and lines on the ankle so I knew FOR SURE they were working on the correct one.

I've got the creeps just thinking about it!

[QUOTE]Anyone have any private parts pierced?  That should liven things up around here. :-)

Yes.  FI had this brilliant idea that we should both get genital and nipple piercings done at the same time.  I almost passed out when I saw him turn white when he got his PA done, I was glad I had gone first (I got my hood done).

Fun fact- my hood piercing healed much faster and less painfully than the nipples.

Also- in response to the post about the friend with the PA who says chicks love it-  FI found his very uncomfortable until he sort of custom bent a bar to fit.  He takes it out for sexy times, since he's concerned about tearing and infections.

  • I almost never wear earrings and I have 2 holes in each ear lobe. I have 2 in the top of my left ear, too, but I wear earrings in those.

Yup, my Physical Therpist asked me who my surgeon had been and I told him.  His jaw dropped and he said "You didn't really use him, did you?"  I said of course I did and asked why I shoudln't have and he told me about the botched surgery.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Re: Tattoos

I have those too (so does FI), they are a very different kind of pain than piercings.  I have a number of pieces but the best one is on my left side from armpit to hip.

The top part is the dragon:

Here's a later picture of more work I had done on the flames and biohazard:

Did I mention that the ink for the flames glows under UV light?  (Not that it's had the opportunity too much in the last few years).

Fun fact:  I don't recommend getting tattooed on your ribs.

    That's hilarious.

And yeah, my mom got a tubal right after my brother was born (same hospital trip since... well, they were already in there) and she only had 2 kids. And was 30.

I have second and third holes in my ears.  I had to take them out because of my job.  They didn't close up but every time I put earrings in them now they get infected so I just stopped.

I have 2 tattoos and so does FI.  He's getting another one next month.  I don't regret them but I have to admit that sexy star on my pelvis is going to look like a galexy when I get pregnant.

  • I got my first holes in my ear at 6, and the second holes at 22. I was bored at work and my coworker and I decided to take a 15 minute break and go get second holes. That's how crazy analyzing civil war artifacts makes you!

I also got my navel pierced for my 20th birthday. I might be looking at one of those pregnancy belly button rings.

H has no more piercings and it made me sad :( In his 20's he had an eyebrow piercing, 2 holes in one ear and 3 in the other. He took out all but one earring on each ear when Z was born, and took out the final earrings when he worked at Restaurant Depot.

The are a soft rubber so it will supposedly stretch and move with the growing belly. I don't know though, time will tell.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Piercings : I took my belly ring out 4 years ago and assumed it was closed. I figured out the other day that it never closed from the top, just the bottom, and that there will more than likely always be a hole in the top of my belly button. Which is REALLY weird to me. I shudder to think what'll happen when I get KU.

This scares me too. I don't want my giant preggo belly to look like a giant donut with a hole in the middle!

And Bec - mine once got stuck in the plastic of a grocery basket while I was walking through the frozen food section once. IDK how it happened but this story ends with me hunched over near the pizzas with my shirt halfway up trying to dislodge it.
