Tuesday Gripe

Just felt like griping so if anyone else has something to complain about please throw it out there!

Visited FI in the hospital last night so I didn't get home until after 11. By the time I got the dogs settled down it was after midnight. That was fine. Then at 3am our security alarm starts going off for no apparent reason (it wasn't even set). It continued to go off every 30 minutes no matter what I did. So I got less than three hours of sleep and had to be at work at 7am. Yay Tuesday.

What's bugging you?

  • My daughter 'got a job'. Well, not really - selling clean air systems on commission is not going to happen. I don't want to burst her bubble, but there is no way on Earth that young lady can make any money selling anything on commission. And setting her own appointments. I just can't be positive about it, because I know she will hate it and make zero money. Just get a job in a store or restaurant, please.

  • How is your FI doing?

I just have my usual gripes. Pain all over, the boss is still reviewing my raise request over a month later, I have no money. But it could all be worse, I suppose.
  • LesPaul, that's sucks. Commission is hard enough as it is. And now that it's getting closer to the holidays, I would think she'd be able to get something retail?

jcbsjr. Nope, not the battery - it just beeps when it's the battery, like you said. I dunno what the deal was last night but it was pretty much horrible lol. And we don't have it monitored so I couldn't even call anyone about it. Gah.

My sister sent out bridal shower invitations that do not say what type of party it is at all- there are 2 birds on the front, and the inside says "For: my name", etc. She also did not say where we are registered. I've already had a couple people ask me what the invitation was for.
    Grr.

    Also, my jaw hurts.
  • My princial and her boss came into my classroom this morning. My students were taking a test. Boss's boss asks one of my students when did they start reading the material for the test, how did I teach it, what else do they do. On and on.....I hate when they come in here and think that they are getting a full picture of what goes on and they are in here for all of 5 damn minutes!!!
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • I'm glad he's doing better, shay. Did you ever say what he has? I understand if you don't want to share, it's personal. And I'm glad you have a game plan for the depression. Sounds like you're moving in the right direction for sure.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Tuesday Gripe : I couldn't sell water in a desert. So selling air filters or whatever would be a HUGE challenge... Retail or restaurant? Yeah, that I can do....especially if I were 20 y.o. again!

I couldn't either. I had a job like that once upon a time, and hated every single minute of it. And made no money either. I'm happy she's looking and trying to find something, but some people are just not cut out for sales - particularly this type of hard-core, create-your-own-lead type of sales. It's going to be a disaster, but I'm having a hard time finding a kind way to tell her that. Her father, on the other hand, could sell ice cubes to Eskimos.

  • This is actually a gripe about yesterday.

Modem/router gateway lights were all off in the morning, quite mysteriously as our internet had worked just fine the night before. FI took it to Best Buy to have them look at it (because I'd heard it is often the power adapter that is the problem) and the guy had no idea what he was doing. FI actually instructed him on how to use the multi-meter he was fumbling with.

It was established that the problem was, in fact, the power adapter. The Best Buy staff informed FI that they won't sell him just the adapter, he'd have to buy a whole new device, which was $189 (despite being priced at $99 online). So FI ended up going to Radio Shack and purchasing a similar 2 amp adapter there for $50 (which, IMO, is still pretty damn expensive for a power cord). However, we got our internet functioning again, and that's what matters, right?

[QUOTE]Miss Courtney - God bless ya for teaching. Between some health issues and situations as you described - I had to leave teaching last year. If it were feasible - administrators would have to do a 6 weeks (quarter, whatever) a semester, or even a whole year back in the classroom. They'd get a dose o'reality REAL quick. My Tuesday Gripe: Office PMS.

YES!!! I would love to see some of them back in the classroom. DEAD!!!

@ Shay, thanks hun. I am so happy your FI is feeling better. Now you can get him home and really work on him. ;) I remember the movie on cystic fibrosis when I was little with the girl who had it and had to get pounded on every night. I heart broke for her. I am praying for your FI.
