Justifiable teenager abuse?

Last week about 2am someone threw an egg at my car about 2 blocks from my house.  There is a large brick wall and the homes have balconies so I could not see anything.   I thought I killed an animal and that my windshield was covered in guts.  If I was an old lady I could have crashed.  Not to mention egg eats the paint off of cars and is very destructive.  My husband was livid but I refused to turn around.

Last night, as he was driving home from work, they did it again.  But with a rock.  He turned around and got out and tried to find out which house it was coming from, without any luck.  He could hear whispering...it has to be kids or teenagers.  If they shatter our windshield it would easily cost $500.

He called the police and they refused to do anything.

So I am kind of thinking that these kids deserve to be punched in the face by a grown man.  Because now I have to worry every night on my way home from work.

  • Teenagers can be such little shiits. I would totally punch them.
  • I think a punch in the face is an acceptable form of punishment. Just last weekend someone (I think my neighbors) egged Kyle's car right in front of my house. We did not notice until the next night after it happened but luckily it was wet and rainy and it didn't eat off his paint. Im really sorry that is happening, carry some rocks of your own and throw it back in the same direction.

  • I am sure it is happening to other people.  It is the main road leading into several subdivisions.

Our car was egged at our house once, and 2 or 3 times I had things stolen out of my car.  Yes....I forgot to lock it or I accidentally left the sunroof open, but on an empty dark street you wouldn't know that unless you walked up in my driveway and tried my door handle.

I guess that is what happens when a neighborhood of $400,000 homes drops to $150,000 and they all become section 8 housing and foreclosed homes.

I kind of want to just hang out on the street below the brick wall and wait for them to throw something then pop up wearing a superhero costume and knock them out.  I can be the neighborhood vigilante.  Supersascha.  :)

  • while it sucks...I think joking about the punch is all you can do. If he punches them... be prepared to bail him out. He will probably get arrested....

</div><div>I remember this happened in my hometown and the guy got out and chased the kid to his house and was trying to kick the door in.  He got arrested.  I kind of thought he was a hero.  I hope the kid pooped himself.

  • I can't believe the police wouldn't do anything. If it were me, I'd keep complaining and complaining, and go down to whatever department or office that dealt with that stuff until I got ahold of someone who gave a rat's ass. Or I'd call the local news. There is no reason why you should be victimized like that. Someone could get killed.

</div><div>I know!  They are throwing from the left side of the street over 2 lanes and a median so they have pretty good aim.  If someones window was rolled sown they could take the full hit in their head.  I wish we could figure out which house it was coming from.

  • I have to agree with Zippity, someone has to see that there is attention put on this matter.

Where I'm from there were kids throwing rocks at cars, and one of them broke a windshield causing a wreck, and the gentleman ( a Reverend) was blinded in the incident. I think it's atrocious that the cops wont care until someone is killed.

Good luck, but make sure your DH doesnt go to jail. I woner if there is a way to wait it out and catch them on camera?

  • I'd call the news too.

I also second KDs thoughts of getting it on camera. Maybe you could set up a camera on your dashboard so if it happens again you can show exactly where you were at on the street and get a better idea of what angle the rock/egg hit your car.

Do you guys have an HOA? I think you or the HOA need to send out notices that when you find the guilty party/parties you will be pressing charges.

How scary and frustrating. I wish you could let your H beat the crap out of the kids who are doing it. I'd gladly spend the night in jail for beating people like that! But having a criminal record with assault on it? Not worth it.

  • Maybe next time he needs to get out of the car brandishing a gun. Could be dangerous, but could make quite an impact.

  • Teenagers are so annoying.  I went to go pick up a pizza one day and these kids were driving like crazy around the parking lot and almost hit some guy.  Turned out, this guy was also getting pizza and we all ended up in there together.  That guy was a pretty big dude, looked ex-military or something and man did he scare the crap out of those kids.  Just very calmly, very seriously looked him in the eye and quitely told him that if he ever pulled crap like that again, he would beat him so badly that not even his own mother would recognize him (and some other stuff that I didn't quite hear, but the kids looked like they were about to cry).  Then he paid for his pizza and left.  He was my hero because I bet those kids will never do that again. LOL.

  • Hah Sarah!!

That is so sad about the reverend!  I would love to get these kids in huge trouble.  The area where they are throwing is not my HOA...there are several subdivisions in a small area.  I could figure it out though.  If they were on the news they would probably like it though.  I think they need police attention.

  • ...Your story pisses me off.

The egg thing - while I agree, I would be furious - that's kids being kids.  But throwing rocks at cars?  That's fucking dangerous and is not okay.  I'm really surpised that the police won't do anything.

I'd call the local news too.

  • I would just keep calling the police every time it happened and encourage everyone you know to do the same. If the police still don't do anything go to the news. If something does happen (and I know this doesn't make life easy) file a claim with insurance. I did that when my car was broken into and not only was I not responsible to pay for damages (and with no rate increase/points) but it forced the police to look into the issue.

Nice. Verbal ass-kickings can be just as painful!
  • I can't believe the police refused to do anything... people have been killed by rocks being thrown into windscreens from heights before- and if this has happened twice to you guys, it must be happening rather frequently. I'd go in and make a formal complaint to the police.
  • Hound the police, contact the news, stake out the area if you have to in order to find out who the culprit is so you can hold them accountable. Try and get the other people in the neighborhood to band together with you in doing the same, and hopefully the problem won't keep being ignored.

Any kind of projectile is bad news, but rocks are definitely taking it to a level where somebody's going to get hurt or killed.

Exactly. Especially your last point. I'm stunned that they're not doing anything yet.

Teenagers make me not want to have children. Good luck!
  • I'd go to the local gym boxing class and hire their best 17yr old student to go beat their asses after you find them. Problem solved! :)
