Music help...

I need ideas.

I know it's probally too soon to be thinking music for the ceremony, but I have to plan in between semesters.

That said, I have no clue what to have played for the ceremony.

We are having a full Catholic Mass, but I don't want to go the trumpet voluntary route for the precessional.  It's just too much for us.

We are having Schubert's  Ave Maria and the recessional is a Te Deum, but I want something a bit more unique for my processional and the bridesmaids.

Suggestions?

Re: Music help...

  • You should probably check with your church before you put too much thought into it.  Many have guidelines on what you can and can't use.

  • They're cool with classical pieces as well as religious...I just can't have anything like Nora Jones' Love Me Tender, or as Deacon joked, No Rush!

We had the full Catholic mass, and obsessed about the music for months!  (H and I are both professional musicians, and met in grad school).

The moms and BP processed to "Entrance of the Nobles" by Rimsky-Korsakov.  MOH and I processed to "Thaxted", aka the middle section of "Jupiter" from Holst's "The Planets".  Our recessional was Handel's "La Rejouissance".

I'd be happy to PM you the entire lineup of music from our mass if you like!

  • I'm not sure how much help this is, since it wasn't Catholic.  But, we used a piano version of "Kissing You" for the processional.
