[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Tell me : Sometimes. Well, most of the time. My dog usually sees them first. I should add that there is a little bit of a difference from ghosts that everybody sees and the things that happen to me. Ghosts usually haunt 1 place or leave their energy or impression there. I have seen relatives that passed or spirits that are around certain people in places that have nothing to do with where they lived or died.

I've always believed that animals see spirits. My friends always laugh at me, but I know Baxter sees something when he stares at a spot for more than five minutes. He's too high energy to just be staring for no reason.

Can you communicate with the spirits you see?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Tell me : Aw, that reminds me of my mom. We already had a cat and dog, but she found a pregnant stray starving on the street. When she brought the cat food, the cat ate it, but would chase after my mom every time she tried to walk away. Years later, we still have the cat. She's named Gymmie, since she was found outside of a gym. My mom has a big heart, but she's not the most creative :).

My cats names were Pretty, Baby, Socks, Ewok, Wookie, Zorra, Tip, Pudgey, Oreo, Little, Manny, Bear, Cub and now Demon. I'm not getting the prize for most original either :)

Blue, I can feel house energies which drove me crazy while house hunting. A lot of the foreclosures had such horrible energy I would start crying just stepping through the front door. One gave me "ok" energy on the top floor, then when I stepped in the basement I started hyperventilating and yelling "get me out get me out get me out". Everyone else was fine.
• Blue, I now have goosebumps.

• Are we turning this into a ghost story thread? I love my ghost stories :)

[QUOTE]AATB, there is a lady in Salem who has a shop. She is a world renowned psychic medium. I go to her shop sometimes for incense and candles and stuff. I was in there one day and she came up to me. She looked at me dead in the eyes for about 10 seconds. Then she goes "I know what you can do and I know what you can see, dont be afraid of it, embrace it." I almost shiit my pants. Lol.

That is so creepy Blue. Oh my goodness!

Sometimes I wonder because of all the stuff that's happened with the women in my family for the past several generations - if I could do or see things too? I do remember being very young and watching tv alone in my grandparents house, and hearing someone whisper my name - but everyone else was in the backyard outside. And there are other things - like when I was growing up, we had a rotary phone. I could tell most times who it was that was calling. Or I could predict the next song that would come on the radio. I'm pretty afraid to pursue anything though, just because of the crazy shiit that's happened in my family.

My fiance swears he saw a ghost in a house he rented in college.

• AATB- I should nothave read that. I literally just teared up. I find stuff like that amazingly fascinating but I get soo scared that I don't even want to walk to the bathroom.

Yes but only if they are strong enough.

AATB- Ouija boards are bad news. Especially if you dont understand what you are inviting in. If its all for play like a teen girsl sleepover, fine. But if you are looking for trouble, it will find you with those things.

• Holy shiit, AATB.

I have a funny Ouija board story.

When FI still lived in IN, I used to visit on my school vacations. Then we'd usually spend some time with his family and I'd get to know everyone. He has two younger half-sisters who were 11 and 13 when this happened.

His family is very tight-knit and likes to have some kind of family time after dinner. So on the night I was visiting, the girls wanted to play "Light as a Feather. Stiff as a Board", which I've done (successfully!) before. After that, they brought out a Ouija board, which usually terrifies me (I didn't watch The Exorcist for nothing).

Anyway, we start talking to something, but I"m pretty sure it's one of the parents or FI moving the pointer. Then the girls ask "What's you name". The pointer moves to F, then U, then C, and his youngest sister yells "DOn't go to K!" It eventually spelled out "F*ckass". At which point I really couldn't tell what we were dealing with, because FI swears he didn't move anything and I really can't imagine his parents cursing in front of the girls. The girls are very shy in front of me, so I'd be surprised if it were one of them.

We got a good laugh out of it and put the board away.
• I've told this one before, and I'm going to scare myself.
One night I got up to get a glass of water. I was feelign really sick. I let the water run to get cold. I had the bathroom light on (bathroom is attached to the bedroom) and I could see clearly. I was looking down at the floor. I opened the door and saw a man's legs. I thought it was H. I literally swayed back because I thought I was going to run in to him. Then, they just vanished. I looked and H was sound asleep. I screamed at the top of my lungs. For a moment, I thought someone was in the house. H was up totally freaked. I jumped in to bed and started bawling.

• Oh I'm sorry roxy :(

But yeah I agree with you Blue on the Ouija boards - I will NEVER touch one. My mom said that after she stopped using them and became more devout in her belief in God, she was at a party one time where they were using one and when she got there, it stopped working.

But yeah I will never get involved in that shiit. No way.

• AATB- That is truly scary. Like, I shouldn't have read that.

Blue, would you make it stop if you could?

• It's ok! I know better than to read it. I'll keep reading but y'all have to promise some happy stuff before I go to bed?

I can't watch scary movies at home because I'll bawl and refuse to move. They always have to be followed up by disney channel or cartoons. I was not given a scare o meter apparently.

The only story I've got is one my Great Grandma dropped a wooden spoon on the kitchen floor and when she bent down to get it, it was gone. They looked for an hour and that spoon never turned up.
• I guess its all what you believe and what you are open to. Sure some people have more "ability" (for lack of a better word) but I am certain that everyone can do it.

I started tying to strengthen what I can do by doing exercises. I got the best results by lighting a candle and staring at the white part of the flame. It helps relax you and open your mind.

There are lots of books and stuff on this if you ever wanted to explore it more. Had I been encouraged more as a kid when it was its strongest, I think I would be better at it.

When I told my best friend the story, I said obviously someone was moving the pointer. She said, "I don't know. I can definitely see you and me doing something like that now, so why would we stop when we're dead?" I hope there's more to the afterlife than that, but if there isn't, yeah I'll definitely be cursing at random kids :)
• BTW - The show Medium is on Lifetime right now, lol.

That is so cool though, Blue - I agree that I believe there are definitely people with more acute tendencies, or sensitivities - but that everyone could probably do it. Maybe you could be the next Allison DuBois or something ;)

• I saw two people or spirits consistently as a child, and no one believed me.
Then, when I finally moved out, my mom had a bad dream. She started telling me about it, and I described them exactly to her. Then she believed me a little more.

I think this is true.

My mom definitely sees stuff. When she was small, she had a statue of the Blessed Mother on her night stand. One morning she was up, but wasn't out of bed, and she was just lookin gat the statue. It moved towards her. Her mother never believed her, though. If I'm not mistaken, she felt really peaceful when it happened and not at all frightened.

She also believes that her mother visits her. She'll smell roses (we had the roses from her funeral flowers crushed and made into rosary beads and bracelets) randomly or see dragonflies (my grandmother's fav) and they'll come right up to her and won't fly away.
• Quincy has been scared of the kitchen for the past couple months. Well, just now he stood at the entrance to the kitchen (open floor plan) and stood there whining. I walked over there and he gulped up a bunch of water, I had him drink more water and he accidently pushed the bowl into the wall and scared himself. Poor thing.
It uh, kind of scared me too haha
• Oh, I did have a ghost dream a few months ago where I woke up feeling super peaceful and almost, spiritual.
• OOH! I have another one :)

So my great grandmother witch/psychic gave my mother and my aunt these dream books that apparently, you can look up the themes of your dreams and it interprets them for you. But because of my great grandma's bizarre happenings and whatnot, neither my mom nor my aunt really paid much attention to the books.

Anyway - years after my great grandma passed, my mom had such a bizarre dream one night that it bothered her enough to want to interpret it. She went up to our attic and got out my great grandmother's dream book. While she was sitting on the couch, thumbing through it, the phone rang. It was my aunt. She told my mom that the night before she'd had a crazy ass dream and decided to look it up in her dream book (that she hadn't even though of in years), but she couldn't find it anywhere, and wanted my mom to get HER book and look it up for her.

So yeah. That was just way too weird of a coincidence and my mom destroyed the book.

My great grandmother had always said that if there was a way to communicate from the grave in some form, that she would. The day she died, my grandma, my mom, and my aunt were all visited by hummingbirds - so every time we see hummingbirds, it's always "Oh, it's grandmother."

My grandma is kinda psychic too. Two summers ago I was out there visiting with my now ex-boyfriend. I was a week away from dumping him for my now-fiance (which is shitty - but we had bought those plane tickets several months in advance). We got back from the beach one day and while my ex was in the shower, she sat me down and said "we need to talk about your friend. I have a bad feeling. Like he's on his way out." I flat out lied to her because I didn't want anyone to know that I was about to break up with him - I just didn't think that would be right. But she knew - and she even said "Well, okay, but this is just the feeling I'm getting. And I'm also getting the feeling that there's someone else waiting for this to happen too." ...meaning my now fiance.
panther
• My mom and I have had corresponding dreams before, its super weird. About random stuff too, while living in different states.
• I like the hummingbird story, AATB.

My grandfather died from lung cancer. When he was at his lowest point, he would get these terrible hiccups that would last for hours. It became a family joke because he was so sick, but he'd rouse himself enough to complain about the damn hiccups. On the day of his funeral, everyone in the family got hiccups and a beautiful rainbow came out after a five minute rain storm.
• edited August 2010
Oh wow that's really cool npasquale - crazy too, that everyone would get the hiccups.

At my grandfather's funeral this summer, it was the most gorgeous, sunny, no-wind day - and it has been pretty much crappy weather there all summer. He was a farmer and the weather that day he was buried was just PERFECT farming conditions. It was like it was on purpose.

Animals can usually tell if there's something going on with spirits too... which is kinda creepy.
