I'm working my way through Airing Grievances and you have to come out to DC and see the Native American Museum! It is awesome and many of the rotating exhibits make me cry. My dad got tickets for the opening ceremony so we were actually one of the first 50 people allowed in the museum (other than workers/famous people of course) and the ceremonies were incredible! It's definitely worth a visit to DC and something you need to do.

That's so cool. Yeah, I really want to go. H has been talking about it since we met. We went up to PA for Thanksgiving last year and drove through DC, but couldn't stop. I am determined to get there soon!

And when I do, I'll be sure to hit you up. Oh, and what's Airing Grievances?

The Airing Grievances thread below. I'm on page 13.

The museum has some incredible exhibits. One is devoted to the past of the people in this country, and has huge exhibits about how religion, guns, and disease were used as a way to eradicate the native cultures. Then there is an exhibit basically saying "we're still here" with information about currently active tribes (including 2 VA ones which are not federally recognized) and what they are doing. You can play native games, view tools, etc.
Then they have a section highlighting a bunch of different cultures with artifacts, stories, music, omg it's so awesome.

Oh, geez. I feel stupid. I thought it was the title of a book. I don't pay a lot of attention to thread titles, I guess.

And now, I think the museum will be H and I's next trip after Disney. I am officially excited.
