Name change document

Speaking of name changes, didn't someone on here have a document that had all the steps to changing your name? Or am I imagining that. If someone does have something like that can you e-mail me at alyssa_aber at yahoo dot com. TIA!

I honestly don't know why this "document" is necessary.  I'm not trying to flame, I'm just stating my frustration, because I think people make it out to be much harder than it is... You take your marriage license, your old social security card and you go the Social Security Office.  Then you go to the DPS and get your drivers license changed.Take your marriage license to the bank and change your name and info there. Then you change your info with your credit cards.Honestly, I don't think it's too hard and doesn't take up too much time.

Ditto Mariah. I did it all in one morning. It's not rocket science and it doesn't cost anything, so don't go off and pay for it.

I'd just seen a lot of people mention this over the last year, so I assumed it must be helpful. Maybe not.

Other than your marriage licence, id, and social security card... You'll need patience. Seriously, it is very easy. The bank, credit card, insurance stuff is more of a pain in the A than anything else.

I really didn't imagine it would be that difficult, I just am a big fan of lists, so I thought it would be nice to have a break down of all the places that I need to contact, but it sounds like they are pretty straight forward.Does anyone know what I have to do to get it changed on the title for our house?

The mortgage company?  I'm not sure on that one.

I did a search because I know what you are talking about. I think Alyssa's point is not how do I change it, but where. There are lots of places I didn't think about.. magazines, school, etc. FWIW, here's the listhttp://byfaithonly.com/WeddingPlanner/NameChangeList.html

Thanks Allison, that is the kind of thing that I was thinking of. I just like having something to look at that I can check things off of.

As far as changing your name on the title for your home you would have to get a new title issued and that would require you contacting the title company that did your closing. It may be easier than this, I would just call the company that handled your closing and speak to the closing officer that handled your closing. HTH!!

I know I'm way late on this one, but I'm never on anymore. Save yourself the hassle with the Voter Registration and do it when you get your driver's license. I did this, but my BFF did not. It took far too long for her to get it changed on it's own.
