Photos....first look or not??

What are you ladies thinking? I'm thinking to really enjoy the day and get the most with our guests, we should do them. But then I go back to that feeling of wanting him to see me coming down that aisle for the first time! I go back and forth all the time :o)

Re: Photos....first look or not??

  • We are doing it. Our photog said she hasn't had any couples do it and would love for us to. My mom wasn't thrilled at first but then I said we can get some pictures done before the ceremony and that way not have to take so much time after.

I don't believe in the superstition of not seeing the bride before she walks down the aisle. Either way, you have a 50/50 chance for divorce... (im corrupt, I work for a divorce atty.).

  • Lol @Stina! You ARE corrupt! Haha!

But I don't believe in the superstition part either, I think I think about it more in the romantic sense and the build up. Which is actually very different for me because I'm actually extremely practical!

  • I've seen some first look pictures and I think they're really cute and cool looking but its not for me.

My fiance suggested it and I just think I would regret not having that first moment of seeing me walk down the aisle in my gown.

I think its a personal preference really.
  • I love the idea for first look pictures, I like the personal time you get together before the ceremony to "calm the jitters" but my fiance is very traditional so I am still trying to convince him.

  • We have to do it.  Our ceremony isn't until 6:30 pm (which is why I am using LOTS of different types of lanterns).  I think it is all about preference.  By doing it before FI and I can have that private moment and express how we feel all while our photographer captures it.  Don't get me wrong I am still going to have butterflies walking down that aisle!  We are getting married!  We will prob still try and do a few pictures after we are married but not too many since it will be dark.

  • we are doing it...it gives us a moment to see each other not infront of everyone.  I think its more private and a special moment but thats just ment
  • We arent doing it, I want his first look to be when I come down the aisle. We are going to do photos with the bride's party, groom;s party before the wedding though to save time.

  • We are doing a first look for the same reason shannie11 mentioned above. The light! The sun sets so early in October that if we want some nice shots of us outside we couldn't wait until after the ceremony. Plus we are having our ceremony at the same location as the reception and I did not want to be limited by time trying to get all the photos done in the cocktail hour.
  • We are not doing it since our timing works out in a way that it is not necessary (church and reception are within 10 minutes of each other, reception has beautiful grounds, late morning wedding/afternoon reception, etc) but if it had been necessary, I would have had no issues with it.

If it is the best way to get great pictures of the two of you together, go for it!

  • I'm in the same position you are.  I'm not sure if I want to do it (only because I want to see his face when I walk down the aisle) but then again, I don't want the guests to wait too long just so we can get pictures taken.  I'm sure we will all go back and forth a dozen times before a final decision is made :)

My FI is the same way, I'm trying to convince him that the more pictures that we take before the wedding, the more time that we will have to be with our guests.
  • I've decided I like the idea of the "first look" pics because of two reasons. One--I know I'll be bawling like an uncontrollable baby if the first time I see him is at the alter. And two-- that walk down the isle is still such a singularly, unique experience that I don't think I'll feel "cheated" or regretful. Also, if I'm so confident and in love that I am agreeing to spend the rest of my life with this man, superstitions have nothing on me!  Also, I'd love to have pictures mostly over with before the wedding so the time between ceremony and reception is more enjoyable and shorter!  I hope you make the decision that is best for you!

  • I'm trying to talk my Finces into doing alot of the pictures before the cermony. I want to spend my time at the recpention enjoying the time with my guest and have lots of imformal pictures as i can. The cermony and the recpention are at the same place so we don't need to travel to and from anywhere
  • We are totally doing it! I think they make for super romantic moments, and amazing shots to remember! its fun funky and awesome. But not only does it get dark super early, and I wanna get some fun shots with the bridal party, but we are having a midweek wedding, so we want the wedding to be late afternoon or early evening so hopefully it is more convinent for guests to hopefully be able to make it (vs the middle of the day ceremony)
