July 2012 Weddings

Vent

Ugh. I have spent my entire Christmas break talking to vendors and I feel like I have accomplished nothing. I have met with two florists, catering, music, trolley, officiant, and cake (MIL). Yet, nothing is done. We haven't managed to pick which floritst we want. Music is still a little up in the air. Catering emailed me my quote today and just the sight of the amount of money it will cost made me want to cry. I'm so anxious for this to all be over and we can get on with the being married part. I need a break from my break.

End rant.

  • Aww, don't freak out. What is the reason for not signing the vendors? Did you not really like the ones you met with?

  • Catering is the biggest expense! That's the worst one to pay, but hopefully they let you do it in installments. It's very overwhelming to do it all at once! But it will come together :)

  • Catering is the biggest by far and I think even though its the biggest once you get it booked you'll feel a lot better.  Just think though if you ge these vendors booked you won't have to worry about much more during the semester.

  • I definitely agree that your catering will be the most of your budget!  But it'll be okay!! It'll be an awesome day!!

Also, are you ready to sign with the other vendors?? What has you saying so-so???
  • Sometimes it takes so long. I've been working on the wedding since August, and I've got so few things done. But in the meantime, you are gathering information and inspiration, and that counts to, even if you haven't got the check to account for it. Hold on!

  • Sometimes you have to suck it up and just pick some vendors.  If you don't like the vendors you meet with, try getting recommendations from your local board (if it's active).   Catering is a HUGE bill, and is scary to look at, but like PPs said, most will do payment installments, so you don't have to pay it all at once.  Maybe take one day this weekend to do marathon vendor meetings and then go from there.

  • I'm in contact with a piano player for the wedding. I'm 99% sure we are going to use her. The only vendor we are having trouble with is florist. The one I want to use is $2400 and the one I kind of like is $900. The one who costs $900 is a little scatter brained, my wedding coordinator recommends her and says she does end up with beautiful word, but i'm jusst scared. The other florist is way out of my budget. I think im going to contact one more that someone recommended.

On top of this, I am hosting my best friends baby shower on Saturday. Busiest week of my life.
