Booking vendors already?

My fiance and I are getting married October 12 next year at a local park. The ceremony and reception will be in the same place, which is causing me some stress when it comes to the logistics of setting up, especially since his large family has pushed our guest list over the 200 mark tho we expect fewer than that to show up.
I'm a bit of a control freak and want this all figured out as soon as possible, which means I need to start working with vendors ASAP. My question is have any other of you already started booking rentals, catering, etc...? I really want to have it all done and over with, but I don't know if it's too early.

It's definitely not too soon.  I started planning for my October 2013 wedding about two months ago and found out that vendors do book up quickly and that it's definitely not too early to start checking things off of the list.

I started booking right after the new year.  It def is not too early to book vendors.

We booked vendors almost 20 months out, so nope, not too soon!!!!

I'm getting married the same day!! Yaaay! And we have all our vendors booked already

I also have all of my vendors already booked.  I started planning in April and the venue and a DJ I spoke with were both already booked for the day we are getting married.  I don't think it's too soon at all, it seems to  be a really popular time of year to get married.

I was lucky in that I knew some of the vendors I wanted to use (church and reception location included in that), so I called them all ahead of time to find their availability and kind of worked backwards. So yes, some vendors are already booked.

Most would have been open anyway, but as mentioned, October appears to be a popular wedding month and it's best to book asap, if you can.

We are all booked up except for our cake and flowers, which I've been told not to book too soon since they are too busy with other stuff going on.  We had to go with our 3rd choice on DJ since the previous two were already booked.  So far we have our Church, Priest, Reception, Photographer and DJ, not sure what else we should do so far out.  Has anyone booked anything else already?

Def book! Mine is Oct 18th next year and just like some have said, Oct books quick! I have my venue, my dj, my photograper and videographer. Better safe than sorry, especially if you know of specific vendors you want!

We had our venues booked 2 yrs out. They were already booking the month/year we wanted.

Libby I have all the same but I also booked my up lighting, photo booth, makeup person, my hairdresser will do my hair, and an acoustic guitarist for our cocktail hour.

I'm getting married Oct 12th too! We are signing our venue contract this week. I'm already pretty far along with the research for our other venders too. I'm hoping to get the other major thing booked in the next month or so.
