Guys' gifts??

FI is having trouble coming up with gifts for his guys.  2 groomsmen, 1 best man.  He wants to stay away from 'flask, tie tack, cuff link' type gifts and go for something more meaningful/usable.

Anyone have any ideas?  What are your FI's doing?

Re: Guys' gifts??

  • Sorry but I am no help, we are doing flasks. For our guys they will be very useable. For my girls I will get them each something personal. I am thinking a book for one, a gift card to a store for another, a bracelet for another, and the last I haven't figured out yet. You could do gift cards, each guy can get one for a store specific to them, for example, if one guy loves fishing he could get a gift card to a sports supply store, if another loves to go out to eat he could get a gift card card to a nice restaurant.

We bought personalized coolers for both our guys and girls. Our wedding party is very outdoor-oriented so it is perfect for all of them. We are going to stuff the coolers with various summer/cooler items such as snacks, beer, wine coolers, etc.

Edit: I forgot to mention that we also wanted to find useful gifts for our wedding party, and because they are outdoor-oriented coolers would be useful on more than one occasion.

  • hm. i'll have to run the cooler idea by FI.  might work for one of the guys, but not sure about the other 2.  The gift card idea would be a last resort -- he'd like to buy something a little more personal/meaningful if possible.

My girls are taken care of.  I did necklaces for all 3, swim/beach bags for my bridesmaids (they had a separate zip part for wet items!), and a coach wristlet for my MOH (HUGE sale find!)
  • This has been a center of debate for us as well.  I think that we have settled on making fleece knot blankets for each of the guys in either thier favorite sports team or something that represents who they are.  They are practical for each one of them and it's something that they will use.  FI didn't want to do the whole flask, cufflink thing either because it wasn't something that they would use.

My FI is getting pretty customized gifts for his groomsmen: a culinary cooking kit, a camera strap, and a video post it note that sticks to your refrigerator. These are all gifts that work with their hobbies and interests.
  • My FI shopped for his guys as if it was their birthdays. He got one guys who hunts a personalized hunting knife. I friend who just moved into his own place a decor sign that says "Jake's Man Cave" a friend who golfs a personalized golf towel and tees. and the fourth guy who loves baseball he got him a personalized baseball. Then he got them all little gift cards to their favorite restaraunts! :)
  • We went with personalized mugs- all the guys are in their early twenties and one even brews his own beer so I think they'll appreciate a nice mug!

  • We're giving them the ties they will wear on the wedding day with the suits they bought.  I know it's not much, but these guys buy stuff as they need/want it and we didn't want to get them something just to have something (that they wouldn't use).  FI always helps these guys out as needed with projects & lending his truck, so I think doing things like that is WAY more helpful & thoughtful than some gift.
