My FI loves hockey so I am just having a round cake with black fondant to look like a puck with his team's logo on it. It is going to be a surprise for him.

I had originally budgeted for a groom's cake but that budget was combined with the wedding cake budget when I realized how expensive wedding cakes are...so we are not having one. Would love to have one but oh well.

OMG....so my FI is a huge HUGE Lakers fan. So yup he will be getting the Lakers court.

I'm not having a groom's cake.  I guess I don't see the point, so I didn't consider it.

I am so stinken excited for the grooms cake,  (more so than the actual wedding cake) Fi loves to go camping so I found this on pinterest, and my friend and I are going to make it

He has no idea what it is going to look like Our families are very laid back so everyone should get a kick out of it

This is my plan for FI, he is a big comic book "geek" (he is going to comicon in Chicago for his bach party) except I am doing buttercream, not fondant

I'm having one made of his car. It's a "show" car, and is his baby. So our baker is doing all of the detail work of it in her homemade (and delicious) fondant, then the cake itself will be his favorite cake flavor. White chocolate raspberry.

jjolovich: I too, am more excited for his cake than our actual wedding cake.

This is my idea since my FI is a huge Vikings fan. I sent this pic into our cake person to get a quote, so hopeully it isn't too bad and we can do it for my FI.

It wouldn't have a name on it. Just the Vikings "head" and the football.

I'm not certain I am going to do a groom's cake or not yet... One of my bridesmaids offered to make one... but she has never done anything like that before... so it could be a disaster! Our idea was to either do an Ohio State block O (very simple!), or something having to do with golf, like a hole in one type thing.

Since my FI plays trumpet on the side. I am going to do a jazz /  music / trumpet cake. Basically leave it up to the baker to decide.

I'm having the SU Carrier Dome Basketball Court made into a cake   But its going to be a surprise for Andrew at the RD

We originally were going to do it for wedding day BUT then we decided not to do it bc of the budget. So after our meeting with the cake lady - I called her and set it up!!!

SOOOO excited to marry my best friend!

maggiebeth, that is a smart idea having it at the RD... there is already cake at the reception!!!

I am not getting a groom's cake, but if I was it would be this one. My cousin had this at his 40th birthday party.

I'm not sure if we are having one yet or not however if we do, it will be Army related, as he is millitary!

The image is going to be printed on edible paper on a chocolate PB cake (he loves PB almost as much as Zombies!)

My FI is a big kung fu (he has a black belt) and bruce lee fan (loves all his movies, visited his grave, etc), so I was going to get one with bruce lee and a chinese dragon in the background. But my FMIL said that it's bad luck in Chinese culture to have photos of people who have passed away (they're Chinese). So I was kinda bummed about that, but am now going with an old video game he used to play a lot.
The groom's cake is also my surprise wedding gift for him.
