"Undergarments"

So I am going back and forth on something and don't know what to do. I don't have anything going underneath my dress. All I will be doing is stepping into it and being laced up. As far as underwear I am not sure if I should invest in something personalized and uncomfortable I may not wear again or if I should find something I'm comfortable in from Victoria's Secret and just wear that. I am also worried if I wear a thong (tmi sorry) over boyshorts, people who are in the bridal suite might not want to see that. Theyre all family but still I am worrying over the little things :/

Also I am looking for 3 and a half inch platform/wedge type flip flops since I definitely don't want to wear my heels all night. I don't want to spend a ton either but I am having no luck. Any suggestions?

Re: "Undergarments"

  • As far as undergarments I say be comfortable! I am going with a white pair of boyshorts... haven't even looked for them yet, but I will before my first fitting... Shoes again I went for comfort and purchased a pair of Ivory Wedges from Toms. They have a lot of great styles for the wedding, even some new white glitter wedges... so cute! and I know I'll wear them again. I did get a lot of sh*t for buying them from my BM bc they dont like them... but I DO!

  • My bra is more like a slip so I'm wearing that and some cute lacey underthings from Victoria's Secret.  The bridal party won't even have to see the undies thanks to the long line bra.  I wouldn't invest in anything too uncomfortable, because you'll be wearing them for a long time on your wedding day!
  • I'm wearing a longline bra and some boyshort Assets (from Target) to hopefully keep my hips smooth as opposed to bulges over any underwear.

These are the flip-flops I got - they come in a few colors and are super comfy.  They're only a little over two inches, but I figure that's better than flat ones.

Also, I have these underwear from VS that are really comfortable and barely feel like you're wearing anything.  They also don't show any lines.

As for bra, I'm wearing this.  It's pretty new to VS and is seriously the only strapless bra I've ever found that I ever simply loved.  Loved to the point that I went back and got it in another color, too.

    Good luck!

  • I'm wearing spanx over my underwear so will probably get something very smooth to hide buldges. I think I'm kinda addicted to spanx.

Also I got these beige wedges from Melissa. They are comfortable but a little heavier than I thought. I do like the support on top though.

  • I'm going with boyshorts either in blue or white because they're comfy and FI loves thems. For shoes my heels are 3.5" also so I got a pair of flip flop wedges from Target they have them with pink or silver sparkly straps and are 3.25". I also just won a pair of Toms from Brides of N. TX so I ordered a pair of wedges because everyone says they're really comfortable.

  • h1jung-I'm addicted to Spanx too...glad I'm not the only one wearing them under my dress. I felt a little weird wearing them when I tried on my dress with my MOH but without them I feel like my dress doesn't look as flattering!

I got my wedge flip flops from Kohl's...they are 2 inches (I'm pretty tall and my BMs won't allow me to wear heels because I'm clumsy and will definitely face-plant if I do). They had a bunch of different wedge flip flops in all different heights when I was there last week.
  • Lobsters25 I love the bio fit line and have worn the strapless for about two years now. I love it and will also be wearing it for my wedding. I second wearing comfortable underwear. Skip the thong. Also keep in mind depending on your dress you may need help with something as simple as using the bathroom lol.

</div><div>I personaly find a thong way more comfortable than boyshorts, hiphuggers, etc. I'll be wearing boyshorts though, but only cause FI requested them.</div><div>
</div><div>OP, I get what your saying about the birdal suite thong situation. My seamstress is sewing in bra cups and I am not comfortable nude at all... I'm dreading standing in boyshorts/braless to get into my dress. I might kick everybody out of the room until I'm in it lol I love my girls... but I don't even feel comfortable in a tankini on the beach!

  • i love spanx!  I have a lace up corset/bustie/longbra (I sadly am forfitting comfort for a flatter tummy and some clevage-that I don't normally have) with a pair of spanks.  Perhaps not the sexiest thing, but I will be changing at the reception into my "casino dress) and lacy undergarments for the wedding night.  But I have to admit, I FEEL sexy in my lace up thingy.

As for shoes I'm also a heel girl, and flats tend to hurt my feet, so Im heels all the way.

Im getting so excited, not long now ladies.
  • Ok probably more personal than most would like to discuss, but is anyone worried about chaffing? Like mainly between the thighs? I was going to wear spanx but because the wedding is outside I didn't want to be soaking before the ceremony was over because of sweat! Is anyone wear shorts that are long enough to go between their thighs? My dress is A-Line so I'm not worried about wrinkles and bumps, and in the hotel room the night of I can always change into something a little more sexy.
  • To Lobster and M Tulli - does the VS bra have latex on the band? We don't have VS shops in South Africa, but I know I loved their bras when I was in the US. I react to latex and I'm struggling to find a strapless bra that doesn't have any. I'm wearing flats the whole day as I'm almost 6' and 2" taller than FI. I'd also fall if I wore heels LOL.

  • fitting for this conversation...my FSIL asked me to order her a long bra, which came in today, so she came over and tried it on...and said..."it's not going to work. I am comfortable in it"   LOL
  • Yea I think I am going to go to Victoria's Secret and find something for under my dress. I am having cups sewn in so all I will be doing is standing in my undies waiting to step into my dress and while I love my family, they do not want to see me naked and I don't want them to see me naked. I might end up kicking them out for a second haha :)

My dress shows EVERYTHING, so I'm actually wearing 2 pairs of spanx. The first are long shorts that cover the belly and thighs. The one over that is a skirt, which also covers the belly and thighs. So there's no chaffing between the thighs and the skift presents a very smooth surface.

Here's links similar to what I'm wearing.

I am wearing spanx underwear that goes up under the bra and a spanx type tank top with my regular bra.
