Re: Wedding planning

  • We have the reception site, colors, and I am starting to think of who I want in my wedding party.

  • I am still waiting on the ring as well. I know it will be before November I just don't know when. We chose August 24, 2012 because it is our five year anniversary.

I pretty much have the whole thing planned. :-) I have my venues narrowed down to top  two for the ceremoney and top five for the reception. I also have colors, themes etc. picked out.

Now if I could just get that ring!

Glad there are other ladies out there planning way in advance.
  • Hi :) new to the boards but an August 2012 bride, actually August 4th 2012 - we set the date last week!!

So far we have booked our reception / ceremony site (ceremony will be outside of reception venue) and have booked our photographer. I got an awesome deal on pring @ home Crane invitations TODAY at a store that was closing. Over $500 worth of cards, envelopes, and thank yous for half the price! The store is Swoozies and I think they have a few in NJ - def worth checking out.

I'm so excited there is an August 2012 board ... now if I could just get my signature thing to work :)

  • the people i am renting the booth from provide a 'scrap' like book for me and j they print out 2 copies of all the photos and we get a copy of all of them and people can write us little messages with them.  the photo booth is 850 for 4 hours and people can use it as many times as they want i am renting from katytrefryphotography.com i was also thinking of going to a craft store and buying some props for the booth or even going to an event place and renting some...i saw an idea that i really liked... it was little chalkboard bubbles that people could write on
  • hey Annie :) yea the place I found sounds similar! they do the whole double copy and scrapbook thing too. sounds like an awesome idea. I'm debating if we really need a guest book if we have that (trying to find ways to cut costs ... ) I think we are going to use http://gofestive.com/ out of Philly. thanks for sharing your chalkboard idea! I'm sure if you can't find exactly that you could make it. you'll have to keep us updated!

Hi, I just joined the site and i'm ecstatic to be a part of a message board with other 2012 brides to be! Laughing

My fiance and i have choosen August 31, 2012 about a month ago because it'll be our 6 year anniversary. We wanted to have it sooner but due to financial occurances that have happened with both of us going to school we decided it would be best to move it back. So far we have the color scheme, theme, wedding party, and we're in the midst of the overwhelming decision of choosing a site and a photographer.

I do love the idea of the photobooth, I've been thinking about incorporating it into our reception and have heard about a few options in the south florida region but havent been able to make a concrete decision on it yet.
  • well no ring yet but we start to think what color we want in our wedding???Laughing
  • My fiance and I have planned when, what time, where, we have invitations picked out, our cake picked out,our foods, our colors, the BM dresses picked out and flower girl dresses as well. We are now starting to plan the smaller details. But no dres yet. How many of you are dress shopping yet? I'm not planning on starting to look until winter.

  • Hi Girls!!
I just got engaged three weeks ago-- and we are planning an August 2012 WEdding

Likely, We are thinking Aug 24th or 25th-- My best friend is getting married in July 2012 so thats out of the question-- and June seems too iffy to have an outdoor wedding because of the weather... so August it is-- and it had to be before the kiddies went back to school--- since his family is coming from accross the country (even though im not big in having kids at the wedding)

So far I have picked my wedding colors: Champange and pale pink
and I have askded my side of the wedding party (FI is still up int he air on his side)
and we have it narrowed downt o 12 venues (yes, that is rgith 12)

Congrats to all the 2012 brides--it seems a LONG way off (more than 2 years for me) but it seems like there is sooo mcuh to do and i need all the time I can!!!!!! (And all the savings)
  • Oh ya! and im not dress shopping until Next year-- i gained a lot of weight since my fiance and I moved in together (dman those extra cheese pizzas), so I just started a work out plna nad want to lost 25 lbs before I start to go dress shopping!

But I have a dress picked out I love (see my knot profile)
  • jcorvese that dress is gorgeous!
I don't have one picked out yet but I want it to be vintage inspired..
  • Thanks!! I love the vintage look. I found a maggie sottero i like as welll called Venecia.

I started WW this week so im excited to get on track and be a skinny bride hahah that sounds so horrible but its true. I dont want to look back at pictures and be like "I was so uncomfortable that day!"

    IMy ring is really vintagey

As my boyfirned (ahh fiance! weird) says "old fashioned"

and so that is the theme I think, my colors are ivory and champagne and pale pink-and thats about all Ive decided.

Were looking at venues next weekend!!

  • I've been thinking about starting ww too. Let us know how you like it. maybe we can start a August 2012 WW group

I have started a lot of DIY projects, picked a ceremony site and still looking at reception venues. I have a good idea of the dress type I would like and my wedding colors are picked out, but I want to wait until 2011 to start trying on dresses. We will start counseling later this year. I think getting started early will keep the stress to a minimum when the wedding is closer.
  • I'm all for a WW support thread.  I need to go back on it myself, as last summer I lost 12 pounds (I'm not drastically over weight, but am about 20 pounds heavier than my ideal weight, which makes me sad).

  • For those of you who are looking at dresses... Are you worried about styles going out the hot list or changing your mind?
I'm super scared to change my mind on something if I start planning right now for my Aug '12 date.

I have started a little bit and been getting a lot of ideas since my dad is getting married in October. I do feel like though that i am jumping the gun about looking at reception places but i am still looking anyways(anyone else feel this way?) Other then that i have been mostly helping my dad and seeing how much DIY stuff his fiancee knows how to do.

  • Hey ladies!! I'm new to this board :) My fiance and I actually got engaged almost a year ago, but with school and finances decided to go with August 11 2012 :) Haven't done much planning just getting a ton of ideas together.  I'm going dress shopping probably in the spring next year. Haven't booked anything yet, I still feel like I'm getting ahead of myself lol

  • I'm going to wait until 2011 before I buy a dress, because I don't have any room to store a wedding dress right now.
  • Hi everyone!! My fiance and I are having a time picking a date thanks to an unsure deployment day (he's in the army and we'll be getting married when he gets home).  It looks like August 2012 will be be a winner for us.  I'm trying to pick 4-6 months after he gets so we have some time to play with -- if I just knew when he was leaving!! =)  I'm really hoping for the 25th, but we'll see!

We're trying to get a lot done before he goes because I want him to have the chance to give his input if he wants to.  So far, we've selected our venue and colors (green and blue).  We've also picked out our bridal party, but we're not doing the asking for a while yet.  I've started a lot of DIY projects - invites, wedding bells for the tables, and a couple other small things that won't hurt to sit a couple years!  I'm also tackling centerpieces and other decorations.  I plan to make these myself, so I thought with two years, that's a lot of Joann's coupons for 40%!  As soon as I make a decision I can stick with, I'll start buying everything.  Once I make that decision though - I HAVE to stop looking at all these ideas!  =)

  • Hi to everyone that said they were new to this board on this post!! (by now you have all been here longer than me), but still want to say hi to everybody :)

LOVE the photobooth idea!!! I love that some of the brides-to-be without a ring are still on top of their game!!! SO AWESOME!! can't wait to hear when you all get the rings :)

All for the WW group we can all be such GREAT support to each other!!!

So far we have the venue!!! we will be putting the deposit next week & we are on our way to do the rest!
  • We don't have a venue, there is one that I am in love with. Here is the link. (http://www.castle-gardens.com/)  But my future husband wants somehting else, so alas, I keep looking. I have my wedding dress picked out , but I haven't bought it yet. Our colors are navy blue and white. Our wedding date is August 28, 2012. AS for the wedding party, I have my side, but he is dragging his side..lol. I have kids in my wedding as well as friends are bringing their kids so I am thinking about renting an inflatable jumper so they can play when everyone else is dancing.

You know you are truly blessed when you find that one who completes you, makes you totally happy, and feels your pain from the other room. The one you feel lost without, the one that makes you laugh, the one that makes you cry. The one that makes you wonder how you can be so lucky. Congratulations to everyone who has found "the one."

    Hello Lovely 2012 Brides!
I am new to posting on the knot, and really happy to see there are other brides planning early like myself.

We just got engaged on August 24th 2010, our 10th year anniversary and I am full speed ahead with the planning, planning, and yes more planning!!!! :)

I'm soo excited and can't wait to get married.

So far we selected our date, August 24th 2012, that will be our 12th year anniversary!  And it looks like there are a few of you with the same date!

We are having a destination wedding in Puerto Rico and I've narrowed it down to 3 vendors.

I recently found "THE DRESS" at Kleinfeld online, and since we go home to NY every Christmas for the Holidays, I scheduled my first appointment.

Our wedding colors are Latte, Chocolate Brown, and Peacock Blue.

My wedding planner / 1st cousin is currently helping me decide on Decor and the Reception theme but for the most part, I feel like I've gotten lots done in less than a months time.

My biggest focus right now is my weight and I had actually started Weight Watcher's 3 weeks before we got engaged because weight loss was long over due. Well, its been 6 weeks and I'am already down 15lbs, so I can't say enough great things about it!
I had a total of 75lbs to loose,  but I have faith two years is more than ample enough time to drop the remaining 60. I average approximately -2lbs per week so by April 2011, I hope to reach goal!!!

Apart of me thinks the stress of planning the perfect wedding will definitely help curb my bad eating habits, the hardest part will be overcoming the holidays but I have lots of support , motivation, and encouragement!

Well, I really look forward to sharing this experience with you ladies and wish you all happy wedding planning.....

  • We met during Seafair weekend 18 years ago, so 2012 will be our 20th anniversary! Chris is still my very best friend and we've grown so much- and I am now finally ready to make it official.

More than anything we want our guests to feel welcome and comfortable. Narrowed the venue down to four locations, but we know we want both the ceremony and reception outdoors. A subtle 1925-1930s vintage feel but we're not forcing it. I'll use my late-grandmother's hand-tatted doilies as part of our the table linens. Colors, theme and overall aesthetic all in place- romance and warmth. Flowers will be all in shades of white or green with wild butterfly mix flowers for filler and a splash of color- I want it to feel as though every bloom was lovingly hand-picked out of my grandmother's garden. I want a zillion candles, tiny white lights and garden lanterns everywhere.

For entertainment, we'll have croquet on the lawn and are hiring a live band for dancing/embiance. Because our family and friends are so very diverse and don't know each other as well as we'd like (many live out of state), we are planning to offer three mini buffets to help mix everyone a bit. Hosted bar for the cocktail hour only.

We are very blessed in that Chris' cousin is a professional violinist and offered her services for us! Our middle daughter will then be a licensed cosmotologist and has offered to do everyones' hair & makeup. Chris' best friend is a Rabi and will officiate.

Funny, I am getting goofy-emotional when I plan; I'll read an idea and out of nowhere start to tear up...my best girlie friend told me that's my wedding radar- how I know its perfect for our day!!
  • CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE OTHER AUGUST 2012 BRIDES-TO-BE! August is the best month, for sure, and not just because that's when my birthday is : )

The first thing I did was write up a budget and to-do list. I've been checking things off here and there since then. I have my dress, hairpiece (flowers), jewelry (including some pieces for bridesmaids), invite materials, and favors and tags. We've also decided on the church and reception venue---I think. This has probably been the most difficult decision so far. The reception venue is a definite but for the church I've been going back and forth between our childhood church (whose parish school we both went to from kindergarten to eighth grade) or a church a little father away that we have been attending because we like their priests and message better (more liberal catholic). The only reason is that my family keeps insisting we do it at our childhood church because they think it will be sweet. We both prefer the basilica, although if for some reason it doesn't work out there I would be happy at our childhood church. It does have a lot of memories.

Thanks to yelp, I also have a short list of vendors (florist, makeup/hair, photog, DJ, alterations) to consider. We're on a budget so its been nice having a while to browse and find the best deals. Plus, Aug 2012 is the summer between my 2nd and 3rd year of law school. My 2nd year is going to be extremely busy so it will be nice not having to worry about much besides the church pre-marriage counseling, selecting the vendors we like the best, and putting down deposits. Other things like BM dress shopping, making the invites, make-up and hair trials, wedding band shopping can be taken care of during the summer after my 2nd year before the wedding.

I really have no idea how some people can plan weddings in a few months or weeks! I would die of stress.

  • Hello!! I am a August 25th Wedding-er! I have my wedding party, church, reception hall, catoerer, and photographer! :)
