August 2012 Weddings

Hi! I'm new here ;)

My name is Grace and my fiance, Jessica, and I are planning a wedding for 8/3/12.

I can't believe we're just over 3 months away. Anyone else getting increasingly more weepy at just about everything the closer the wedding gets?

<div>I had a really hard time keeping it in when we chose songs at the church.  Hearing them on the organ so loud in the church make me choke up!</div>
  • Hi! I haven't hit the weepy stage yet, but I know I will. FI and I chose our rings recently and my mom was bawling.
  • Congrats and welcome!!

I have been getting a little weepy, especially when I talk to my parents (I"m their baby) and know that there are only a few months where I will still be able to use my maiden name.  That probably sounds horrible, but I'm a spitting image of my Dad, so to have a different last name will be weird for me...

  • I also just had the revalation that I will only be able to use my maiden name for 3 more months! I was trying to explain it to my FI but I don't think he fully understood. But he did offer to hyphenate or I can keep my last name, he's such a sweetie.

I tried explaining that to my FH too...I told him that I've been s. fitzgerald for 33 years, to be something different just seems weird.  My future step daughter read somewhere that writing your married name before the wedding is supposed to be bad luck, so I'm resisting the urge to practice my new signature (I'm not superstitious at all, but why risk it LOL)

Oh wow, me too! I literally just said this to my FI last night. I have a ver ylong last name that's difficult to say and spell. However, it's been mine for 28 years and I'm kind of sad to give it up! I do want to take FI's last name, though.
  • Welcome!
We went to two weddings this weekend and I lost it at the one when the bridge (whom I hadnt even met before the wedding) danced with her father.  I had to explan to FI (and his brother) that it hit me that soon I'll be dancing with my dad!
  • Hi Grace! Welcome. Thanks for sharing, good to hear I'm not the only one getting emotional.
