August 2012 Weddings

Boudoir Photos

I just wanted to get everyone's opinions.  I know I don't post much and I usually just sit back and read everything but I am really wanting some opinions.  I really want to do boudoir photos for my fiance and have someone give them to him the morning of the wedding.  I am not a very skinny girl and I have imperfections and am self conscious about my body but I am very open and would love to do this.  I am confused on what I would wear being a chunky girl.  I tried to look for photos online but they are all of very skinny beautiful girls.  I am also wondering if anyone else is doing these and how and what you are doing for them.  I guess I am just nervous because I am a chunkier girl.  I plan to work out and attempt to lose weight before the wedding which is August 18, but I will still never be a skinny skinny girl like in the pictures.  Any advice or comments would be helpful.  Thanks!

Re: Boudoir Photos

  • Hey there!  I did boudoir pics and had lots of anxiety over them because I hadn't lost the weight I wanted to.  My mom even told me I should wait 20lbs before doing them.  But it turns out I had a ton of fun!  I did it with a couple friends who wanted to give an album as an xmas present.  I haven't seen my pics yet but should get them in a couple weeks and I can't wait!  If you have a photographer you are comfortable with, and you can tell them what parts your insecure about, and which parts your FI really likes, they can totally work with you on poses.  As far as outfits, some that give the illusion of nakedness but you're actually pretty covered up, you can try wearing a sports Jersey with heels and fishnets.  Or a white button down business shirt unbuttoned to show lots of cleavage.  or you can do lots of beauty shots focusing on your face with the body blurry in the background.  I also did some just in my veil so everything was kind of filtered through that.  Let me know if you have any other questions!  P.S. you can have a drink or two beforehand!

  • I think you should wear the same things that a skinny girl would wear to the session. Your husband thinks you're hot the way you are. I personally like the lingerie site hips and curves....they have cute little ideas for someone that is not a size 0. Although, I have never actually bought anything from the site...I was just thinking I might get something there if I do the one of the sessions myself. Anyway, I think pearls draped and a sheet strategically placed to leave some up the imagination looks good too. Or if your husband has a favorite sports team, wear a skimpy jersy or top with sexy panties. If you want to feel more covered up....I think this look would be something to you could do too....
  • That makes me feel a little better!  I will def need a couple of drinks.  I do not know any photographers so I am in the process of finding one, so hopefully they are great and make it fun.  I guess I am just worried or so insecure that I feel like I shouldn't get them done even tho I really want to just because of my body!

  • Look up "pinup girl" photos!  You might find more inspriation there :)  I think I am going to do a pinup photo shoot for my FI....just get excited about it and have fun.  You are way more critical of yourself than anyone else....and believe me....he wont be dissapointed!!!

  • Wear whatever makes YOU feel sexy. He loves you for you, not because of your size (unless he's a curve-lovin' guy, which makes you even luckier!) Sexy is not what you see, it's what you feel. Any girl can wear a thong and heels, but that doesn't make her sexy. What makes her sexy is her, just her. Honey, wear whatever you want to wear. He's going to love you no matter what, and the thought that you would go and get pictures like these done just for him will make it all worth it, regardless of what you're wearing (or not wearing).

  • wow i have been thinking about this same thing im doing this for my FI too...its suggested to take someone with you, i already asked my sister because i know she will have me tripping out the whole time and i know i will need that otherwise i will be a nervouse wreck and very self conscious. like the other ladies said and believe me i have to remind myself all the time your man loves you(every curve) and this will be the best gift for him. just have fun hun.
  • Thank you ladies!  You all gave me awesome ideas and made me feel a lot better and made me really want to do this!  Now to just find a photographer!  Thanks!!!!

  • I know I'm late to this thread but for what it's worth, I'm a little chubby and I did boudoir photos for my fiance's birthday earlier this year.  The photog was skilled enough to direct me to pose in ways to hide the spots I don't feel the greatest about and took the photos from really great angles.  It was an awesome, bucket-list kinda experience, and well worth it despite the nerves.
