AUGUST 11 BRIDES Questions

Hi Girls,

I know there has been a lot of invitation talk lately, but I'm going to ask again if you have time to answer. (I'm sorry)

1. When are you (or did you) sending invitations?
2. What is your RSVP date?
3. How many OOT guests do you have?
4. When is your final head count due to your caterer/venue?

My head count isn't due until 2 weeks before the ceremony (and he really said the day before would be fine, they are really leniant), so I put an RSVP date 3 weeks before the wedding (regretting it a little now, but too late! the invites are here.) I wasn't planning on sending the invites until Mid- June but it seems like a lot of you are sending them out now already, so I'm just curious on these questions.

What do you think- should I send them out earlier even though the RSVP date isn't until the end of July, or wait like I was planning to? (I was going to mail them June 15). Thoughts/opinions welcome. Thanks!

I will be sending my invited out around June 10th. Our rsvp date is July 24th and the date we have to give our final numbers in is August 3rd.
  • Phew! That makes me feel better. Those are almost identical to what I am doing. I felt like everyone was sending them out so soon! :) Thank you!

  • My head count is due a few weeks before, I forget exactly when.  I set my RSVP date July 11.  I sent invites May 12.  I have already received over 25% and I'd say 10% of my list is OOT guests.  With the end of the school year and summer approaching, I sent them now because people are making their summer plans.
  • I'm an August 4th bride but I'm answering anyways. We sent our invites out two weeks ago, we need RSVPs by July 4 to give final numbers by July 10. I TOTALLY regret giving guests until July 4 to RSVP. A lot depends on the headcount aside from plates, such as programs and place setting name tags (I'm making both), and most of our guests will be OOT and room blocks expire at both hotels before the RSVP date.

And yes for a little while there I felt a little behind because I keep seeing that everyone has sent their invites already and are getting RSVP's back but we still have time. :)
  • We sent our invites out this week. 99% or our guests are from out of town. Our RSVP date is July 6th because our hotel blocks expire on July 11th and I'm expecting quite a few people to either be late RSVPing or that they won't RSVP at all and we will have a lot of follow up to do. I think our final count is due 3 weeks before the wedding.

  • I am sending mine out on the 10th as well with a response time of July 31st as the venue doesn't need a final head count until a couple days before but may bump it up to the 27th, haven't printed the response cards yet...

I feel ya though, like Colst I feel behind as everyone is getting there invites out, but we only have 20 out of town families, that from the sound of it, maybe only half will show up. But we will see :)

  • :::butting in::: I am an August 10th bride, so I feel like I am close enough that it counts. I feel just like you as I see all our lovely August knotties getting invites out in the mail! My invites are a DIY labor of love and I am currently in the middle of putting all those beauties together. They are in no shape to be mailed as of yet, but hey that is what long weekends are for.

As for the timing and such, I just relied on my caterers needs and just back tracked from there with help from the Ultimate Bridal Guide or whatever the book was called that someone gave me when we got engaged.

Our final head count is due no later than July 30.
The book said to make the RSVP deadline 3 weeks before that so July 20th (my birthday as well, what a lovely present)
and that typically invites are sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, thus we are shooting to get all invites in the mail and on their way by June 10th.

    I hope this helps!
