Single Item off Registry-- Awkward?

Did anyone elese receive single items of high ticket items off their registry.
For example, someone ordered 1 of my crystal glasses. I know they are expensive( $27.00) but I mean there were plenty of other items available in the 25-30 range.
I feel like its going to be so awkard to open ONE glass in front of everyone, I might giggle a little.

I asked my bf who just had her shower and she saiad tons of people did that.
Someone gave her One Towel. And someone else gave her One plate.

Actually, I think with higher priced sets (think fine chine) this is fairly common.  If you don't end up getting the full set at the end of things, at least you only have to worry about a few pieces.

I got a few smaller priced items in sets of 1, but I guess I didn't think anything of it because it was dishtowels and washcloths and those are something that I can always get if they aren't purchased. 

I generally would try to purchase a few different items for weddings, for example my friend got married in October (2 days after FI proposed to me!!) and we gave them a set of spatulas for their kitchen, and a Jenga game!

im not having a shower so I don't expect any gifts until the wedding, or at least much closer to...but I did recieve one gift from a friend of the family...I had a bed skirt, coverlet, and pillow shams (all the same design) on my registery and she got us the entire set.  I personally think I would buy all requested, or at least 2, but maybe they know other people are planning on getting more of the set?

I mean i know its a high priced item. and i can even see getting 1 plate. but one glass to me is so weird lol.
I only thought it was strange becuse there were PLENTY of other 25-30 dollars unbought gifts on the registry.

I think someone people went shopping together because a bunch of things disappeared off the registry last night.
i told myself i would only look on mondays but I looked!!

I feel like I will still be surprised since I don't know who its coming from and I'll forget all the stuff by the time the shower comes.

I am still going to gigle when I open one glass.

I try to buy things in sets, or something else. If I could only afford one glass, I'd probbably get something else, or try to go in on it with someone to buy a set.

You said a bunch of things disappeared off the registry right?  Did say an entire place setting disapper?  A few of your family/friends could have gone in together on a place setting for you

I probably would not have bought a glass if I could only afford one, two is a different story because you're right, one is just kind of awkward.

When my close friend got married I bought her one place setting of her very expensive everyday dishware, but to me that is different because it was one of each item that consituted a whole place setting.

Ya I def. think place settings are a whole different ball game.
The things that were all bought were random

Some pasta bowls, a steam iron, 1 glass (haha I giggle everytime)

My mom went ahead before anyone wlese had a chance and bought me 10 sets of my place setting , plus the bowls and the china storage set.
Which is super nice but she didn't give anyone else a shot haha

Ok this may just be me using my imagination, but maybe someone bought a pasta bowl and a glass, and they might be using it to put together some cute saying?  I could imagine myself doing that and saying, "Here's a glass so you are able to have a nice drink with your pasta dinner"!

Yeah Ive been checking my registry (cant help it). And I try to purchase in sets too. But looking at what people are buying its just one item usually $25 random item. 1 glass is funny. Maybe they were buying something else too and the one glass brought them up to the limit they wanted to spend? Who knows.

I would giggle too if I opened a box and there was 1 glass inside. I would feel just as awkward giving a single glass as I would receiving 1. lol maybe you could open it then quickly excuse yourself to get a drink or something so you can giggle privately.

Sara you are so cute! You always try to think on the bright side.I agree. I have done that before like put pasta and a bottle of wine. Maybe it is my parents friends that own a vineyard and they got us a glass and some bottles of wine?

the pasta bowls came as a set and were liek $70 bucks and then the other day the bowl went missing that goes w the set. So I think that my aunt bought the small bowls and my cousin cbought the big one maybe...

Maybe they bought more than one, but only one was taken off of your registry at the register.  Or maybe they had one coupon for one item, and are going to come back a second time with another coupon (I've done this at BB&B).
